There’s a lot to like about this Keokuk team despite back-to-back 3-6 campaigns, as they are fueled by a potent passing game that was aided by several young emerging stars in the lineup, among them being

. Joy finished as the leading target, recording 47 receptions for 718 yards and 8 TDs last season. Joy will certainly need to bulk up a bit to fit into his frame better, but he showcases some great fundamentals for the position, being able to win vertically in 1-on-1 situations, running great horizontal routes and extending the play after the catch with quick acceleration and agility, and showing sharp footwork to reel in sideline passes. The connection between Joy and QB

With Keokuk relying predominantly on the pass, they were able to generate a lot of production out of Kurt Joy Kurt Joy 6'2" | 165 lbs | WR/DB Keokuk | 2028 State IA in his sophomore year. After flashing as a deep threat as a freshman, Joy led the team with 718 yards on 47 receptions (15.3 YPC) and 8 TDs in 2025. Joy is a bit of a lankier receiver who’s frame will benefit greatly with some bulk, but he already boasts beneficial strength for his position, with a posted 235 lb max bench and a 300 lb max squat along with an elite 36″ vertical to showcase his athleticism. Joy uses his length well, showing good extension on higher passes and being able to catch passes over the defender’s helmets while also showing great footwork and awareness to make catches in tighter windows and on the sideline. With some more bulk to his frame, Joy’s stock should continue to ascend toward being a potential top-5 WR prospect by the end of his junior season.

The Chiefs are building an explosive offense with head coach Marvin McNutt knowing something about making big plays. The former Iowa All-American receiver is developing talent guys at his former position down in Keokuk, too. Joy is a handful on the outside with his long arms, speed and athleticism. His skills led to him being one of the most productive 2028 wideouts in the state this fall. Joy caught 47 balls for 718 yards and eight touchdowns, leading his squad in all three categories. What we can find from a highlight standpoint on his Hudl page reveals a guy who’s comfortable lining up anywhere along the formation. He gets off of the snap quickly, and is fast getting in and out of his routes, which are run crisply. If you’re not sold on Joy as a prospect on offense, he also offers upside as a defensive back. He racked up 25.5 tackles (19 solo, 1.5 TFL), three interceptions and a fumble recovery. No matter what side of the ball he lands in the future, Joy adds value as a returner, averaging 29.2 yards on the six kicks he brought back.
