Prep Redzone AL's 2025 Preseason All-State Team: DL Selections

We've made it to August! With the season quickly approaching, it's time for us to give our preseason All-State selections!   Today, we're focusing on some of the most dominant DL across the state!   You won't want to miss out on this group of talent. Be sure to check out their film below. Now, here are our preseason selections:   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">7A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='566977' first='Tyson' last='Bacon'] had a dominant junior season at Hoover last fall, making him our choice in the 7A.   “Bacon is explosive off the line of scrimmage, plays with a ton of speed, power, and quickness, and is an aggressive pursuer of the ball who doesn't allow for any big plays on his side of the line of scrimmage.   Bacon causes a ton of chaos in the trenches- he can completely overpower offensive linemen with his size and strength, and constantly applies pressure/ places hits on opposing QBs. I love how well-rounded he is; he's a dominant playmaker you have to circle every snap as an offense.“   A few weeks back, Bacon committed to Miami!   Watch out for Bacon this fall. He and this Hoover defense have a huge year ahead.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">6A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='928025' first='Vodney' last='Cleveland'] is one of the nation's top DL recruits for a reason- what he's done at Parker the last few seasons has been seriously impressive to watch.   “Standing at 6'3 295, Cleveland plays with a ton of strength, power, and pursuit in the trenches that allow him to wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines. It doesn't matter what the opposing offense runs; Cleveland has the physicality and athleticism to overpower and out-finesse nearly every offensive lineman he's lined up across from him.   Once in the backfield, Cleveland does a great job generating pressure and racking up tackles for loss/sacks. He has impressive closing speed at his size and can hunt down anybody behind the line of scrimmage for huge stops for loss.”   Earlier this summer, Cleveland committed to Texas!   Cleveland is set up for another dominant year in the 6A this fall. It's going to be exciting to watch.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1183243' first='Cam' last='Mallory'] has been a force on Moody's defensive line the last few seasons, and has another huge year in the 5A ahead this fall.   “Mallory is a guy who eats up space and can wreak a ton of havoc in opposing backfields each snap, and he has the numbers to prove it. It doesn't matter if it's a run or pass; Mallory explodes off the ball and has some incredibly impressive strength, power, and pursuit skills he uses to create huge stops.   Mallory is constantly in the backfield. With how quick and powerful he is, he can shed off blockers and create plays for loss at any given moment, making him a guy you do NOT want to have to line up across from.”   Mallory had another dominant season last fall, recording 96 total tackles (50 solo, 22 for loss), 13 hurries, 12 sacks, and one forced fumble.    Back in June, Mallory committed to West Virginia!   We're going to have to watch out for Mallory this fall, he has a huge season ahead.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1314954' first='Demetrius' last='Wilson'] is a dominant DL out of Jackson who impressed us a ton earlier this offseason, making him our pick in the 4A.   “At 6'3 290, Wilson is massive and gets great penetration on the LOS every single snap, no matter what offenses are trying to do. He explodes off the line, has violent hands, and can completely overwhelm OL with his combination of speed and power.   Wilson commands so much attention up front and still finds ways to work into the backfield to create plays for loss. He's a dominant run defender who eats up space, closes up rushing lanes, and finds his way to the RB every single carry.“   Wilson was unstoppable for Jackson's defensive front last fall, ending the year with 81 total tackles (50 solo, 20 for loss), 4 sacks, 8 hurries, and one FF/FR.   Over the last few months, Wilson has picked up offers from Samford, North Alabama, Georgia State, and more.   Wilson has some of the most impressive tape I've seen recently, check him out below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1118025' first='Guy' last='Murphy'] is a talented DL out of Flomaton who's been one of the top at his position in the 3A over the last few years.   "Murphy can explode off the line of scrimmage to make a ton of big plays in the opponents' backfield- he has quick hands he uses to shed blocks rapidly, throws offensive linemen around with how strong he is, and has the athleticism to make some very impressive tackles both at and behind the line of scrimmage.   Murphy is already really valuable rushing the passer as well- he has a variety of pass rush moves he uses to get to the quarterback and does so really often, consistently generating pressure and getting sacks."   Murphy has some great tape he put together from last fall, check it out below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1754095' first='DJ' last='Mackey'] is a senior DL out of Coosa Christian who's set up for a big year in the 2A this upcoming fall.   "Mackey is a seriously impressive pass rusher who constantly finds ways into the backfield. He has an explosive first step, quick hands, and great strength he uses to beat OL and generate pressure/sacks.   I'm really impressed with Mackey's tackling and pursuit skills. He has impressive closing speed and can hunt down the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage and in the open field for some huge stops for loss."   Watch out for Mackey this upcoming season; he's a talented player with a big year ahead. Check out some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1754148' first='Danny' last='Boice'] is a dominant force on Billingsley's defensive line that we think will be one of the top DL in the 1A this fall.   "At 6'3 255, Boice has the size and athleticism to create a ton of issues for opposing offenses. He's a dominant run defender who can quickly close down rushing lanes to create stops at and behind the line of scrimmage. On top of that, Boice is an impressive pass rusher who can consistently generate pressure and place hits on the quarterback.   I'm seriously impressed with Boice's hustle and pursuit skills. He's a high motor DL who can hunt down the ballcarrier for some impressive sideline-to-sideline stops in the open field and behind the line of scrimmage."
