New Palestine is fresh off a banner year that saw a return to Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time since their back-to-back victories in 2018-2019 By beating East Noble 56-26, the Dragons captured a state championship and their fourth state title under head coach Kyle Ralph who has lost just 14 games in 12 seasons.

The Dragons will face a stouter test in 2025. The tournament success factor has bumped them up to Class 5A. The good news is they have been here before: their championships in 2018 and 2019 were at the 5A level, and it's reasonable to expect them to be just as good, if not a favorite, for the following reasons:

They have a good quarterback.

[player_tooltip player_id='164410' first='Jacob' last='Davis'], who transferred from Springboro High School in Ohio before last season, has given the Dragons a huge boost on offense. He is a very underrated quarterback who holds just three offers from Kent State, North Alabama and Towson. Nevertheless, his abilities to make plays with his legs combined with his strong arm give the Dragons a huge boost on offense. The team scored more than 35 points 12 times last season thanks in large part due to him.

Stout and experienced defensive playmakers coming back.

Two brothers - [player_tooltip player_id='1178518' first='Josh' last='Ranes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1080776' first='Garrett' last='Ranes'] - are back at linebacker. Like their quarterback, the two are very underrated, and tackling machines. Defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1685052' first='Desmond' last='Palmer'] who committed to Indiana State is another key returning starter, as is two-way offensive lineman and defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='560133' first='Brock' last='Brownfield'], who is committed to Purdue. This will be a tough defense to score against.

[player_tooltip player_id='1180305' first='Mason' last='Oglesby']'s two-way athleticism and impact.

Oglesby, who holds a dozen offers, is one of the Hoosier State's best prospects in the Class of 2027. Strong as a tight end and defensive end, his development over the past two years within New Palestine's program has been great to watch. He is a force off the edge on defense, and at tight end he is a proven threat as a receiver and a very physical run blocker. Expect his recruiting to skyrocket with a strong junior campaign.
