This isn’t our first time writing about Gibbs this year, as he’s been a huge part of Rose’s undefeated start to the season. Though undersized, Gibbs is a sure tackler who always seems to put himself around the ball. The Rose offense was supposed to be strong, but plenty of people (myself included) have been impressed by the defense. Gibbs is a key part of that unit that will look to make a deep playoff run.

J.H. Rose’s defense is greatly improved this season, and Gibbs’ emergence at middle linebacker is a massive factor in that. He’s a fiery player who’s always moving at hyperspeed. He’s quick, decisive, and plays way bigger than his size suggests. His natural linebacker instincts complicate his evaluation. His size and speed suggest a future at defensive back, but he plays linebacker like a long-time veteran. For now, we’re content to sit back and let his play do the talking. When you see Rose late in the playoffs, remember Gibbs’ contribution on a strong defense.

Gibbs was electric for J.H. Rose’s impressive junior varsity team, but the varsity team returns its entire bevy of skill guys, while adding a key transfer, as well. That said, I think Gibbs may be too talented to keep off the field. He’s small, but shifty, and tough to bring down in the open field.
