Going into the 2025 high school football season, some running backs are flying under the radar and deserve more attention based on their performance on the field. Here are some of the top ‘under the radar' running backs for 2025:

[player_tooltip player_id='1604956' first='Jagger' last='Casillas'], Los Lunas: Casillas was part of a balanced rushing attack for the Tigers in 2024. As a sophomore, he rushed for over 700 yards. And that was as Los Lunas's No. 3 ball carrier. He'll ascend to the No. 1 RB job in 2025. Definitely 1,000-yard potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='853063' first='Isaiah' last='Dominguez'], St. Michael's: Dominguez was part of a three-headed monster at running back for the Horsemen in 2024. He should get the ball a lot more in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604744' first='Jordan' last='Herrera'], Los Alamos: Hidden away in the Land of Oppenheimer, Herrera enjoyed a fabulous sophomore season in 2024, rushing for 1,388 yards and 19 TD. The Hilltoppers will have a new QB in 2025, but handing the ball often to Herrera will undoubtedly remain a key component of the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1613370' first='Romeo' last='Jones'], Organ Mountain: The top freshmen running back in the state last season with 750+ rushing yards. Helped Organ Mountain get back on its feet with 4 wins in 2024. The next step, and Jones will have a big role in getting the Knights there, is qualifying for the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1600856' first='Landon' last='Noble'], Newcomb: Noble led Newcomb's punishing ground game in 2024, rushing for over 1,400 yards and 11 TD. However, because Newcomb didn't make the playoffs, many folks don't realize how good Noble truly is.

[player_tooltip player_id='854281' first='Bobby' last='Parraz'], Loving: Rushed for over 800 yards for the Falcons in 2024 and played a large role in them reaching the 2A semifinals. Parraz will be part of a dynamite Loving offense in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1599923' first='Michael' last='Storms III'], Valencia: The ultimate ‘under the radar' running back for 2025. He led all juniors in rushing last season with 1,723 yards and 21 TD. The Jaguars reached the Class 4A quarterfinals in 2024. Could they go farther in 2025 with Storms?

[player_tooltip player_id='1600859' first='Sean' last='Torres'], Miyamura: Probably one of the most underappreciated running backs in the Four Corners. Good speed. Rushed for over 700 yards and 6 TD in 2024. The Patriots should have an exciting offensive attack in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1129687' first='Jonah' last='Villegas'], Pojoaque Valley: Villegas isn't the biggest guy around, but he possesses plenty of speed. The Pojoaque Valley offense promises to be dynamic in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1605005' first='Brock' last='Wright'], Carlsbad: Emerged as one of the top young running backs in Class 6A this past season. He had 124 carries in 2024, so he had a big role in the offense. Bigger role in 2025 with Carlsbad breaking in a new quarterback? Likely.
