This week, we’ve got our eye on a rising sophomore who had an impressive sophomore year and is headed to the Palmetto State in 2021 to continue his high school football playing days.
Tight End / Linebacker
Brock Feinberg, Wando (2025)
8th grade middle school highlight film
Analysis – Feinberg can move for a tight end and makes the tough catches near the sideline on offense. He runs at full speed. On defense, he has solid instincts and can chase down the quarterback. It will be interesting to watch his development as he heads into his freshman year of high school. He’s been on the camp circuit as we noted in our Camp SZN story on Monday.
Wide Receiver/Cornerback
Chris Lawson Jr., Ridge View (2023)
Freshman/Sophomore Hudl highlight film
Analysis – Lawson will be transferring to Ridge View after spending his sophomore season at North Carolina power, Hough High, where he started last year. He started as a freshman at Northwood High in Pittsboro, N.C. What stood out about him on film is his ability to make the difficult catches against man coverage, whether it was towards the sideline or to the back corner of the end zone. The rising sophomore also “stacks” the receiver well and runs precise, clean routes. He recently visited Clemson’s football camp as we noted in our Camp SZN story on Monday. He’s an excellent student as well with a 3.3 GPA.
Defensive Back
Jeremiah Jennings, Westwood (2022)
*2020 Season Stats: 2 INTs, 25 tackles, 2 PBUs, 1 TD (4 games)
Analysis – Jennings is one of the more instinctive and anticipatory cornerbacks that we’ve seen on film. Once he sees the ball come his way, he steps right in front of it to make an interception for a pick-six, like we saw on film. Or he will knock it away. He’s also solid in run support – he won’t run the alley too quickly and overrun the play against a back. He recognizes where the run is going and makes the play. His production was cut down due to the shortened season, but we expect him to have even more production in 2021.
