Today, Nate from Northstar Football News caught up with Northstar Football News kicking prospect Noah Vogelpohl of Champlin Park for his #ForTheBrand Kicker profile. We chatted about his strengths, his college interest and why he’s a #ForTheBrand kicker in the state of Minnesota. Noah Vogelpohl Position: Kicker/Punter High School Program: Champlin Park Class: 2020, Senior Get to Know Noah Vogelpohl/His Strengths Vogelpohl is a 2020 prospect that is looking for a college home to perfect his kicking craft next year. He's had kicking in his blood since 4th grade, and it all got going in 6th grade when extra points were valued at 2 points in junior high football. Vogelpohl got together with his dad and said: "I should learn how to kick the ball thru the uprights consistently so we score 2 points every time" he told Northstar Football News. Vogelpohl remembers in his youth his first-ever made the field goal, which was in the Metrodome before US Bank Stadium was built. What the football community outside of Champlin Park should know about Noah is he a hard worker and will keep training until he is and his team is successful no matter how long it takes Vogelpohl will be there until the team and himself hit their goals. His biggest strengths are how he "executes his job" he told NFN and having "ice in his veins". His ice in his veins mentality started in his first game of the year against East Ridge, where Champlin Park was tied with the Raptors at 19-19 with a few ticks left in. the game. Vogelpohl was sent out to kick a 34-yard game-winner, and East Ridge called a timeout to ice him. Seconds later, Vogelpohl drained that 34-yarder to beat the Raptors 22-19 with no time remaining to send the Rebels to their first win of the season. Favorite Parts About Being the Kicker Vogelpohl was firm that "everything" was his favorite about being a high school kicker. "Usually not many people expect much of their kicker when they are in high school," Vogelpohl told Northstar Football News. The Rebels coaching staff had full faith in Vogelpohl to kick not just extra points thru the uprights, but field goals as well. He said kickoffs were also something he enjoyed when it comes to determining his Rebels team field position. College Interest Two schools that Vogelpohl said were recruiting him the most, have some relevance from our last recruiting profile with St. Anthony's Owen Martin. Vogelpohl said the University of Jamestown and Gustavus have been the front runners as far as his recruiting trail. Improvements After his junior season, Vogelpohl was well trusted in the kicking verse by the Rebels coaching staff and they asked him to attend as many kicking camps as he could in the offseason, which Vogelpohl took full advantage of. He went to tons of kicking camps that year, but the one that was the most valuable was the Wisconsin Badgers specialists camp. He also got stronger in the weight room as well. Noah's Mentors Noah's biggest kicking mentor is no stranger to Northstar Football News. Chris Husby of the Special Teams Academy is his biggest mentor. "I've worked with Chris for two years and I feel that wouldn't be able to accomplish as much as I did if I did not go to Chris," Noah said about his mentor. Husby helped Vogelpohl turn weaknesses into strengths and Vogelpohl highly recommends anyone that wants to try kicking out, to go to the Special Teams Academy and National Kicking Rankings. What Makes Noah Vogelpohl a Minnesota #ForTheBrand Kicker? Vogelpohl's "team first" attitude is what makes him a #For The Brand kicker in the state of Minnesota. He also shows great dedication in improving his craft as a kicker and training year-round to keep up and improve the craft he's already built.
