In this article, we preview some of the Super Football Conference's top games going into Week 6 of football here in the great, Garden State.

Thursday, October 10

Demarest (5-0) at Fair Lawn (5-0), 6pm

In an Ivy Red divisional matchup, two undefeated teams in Demarest and Fair Lawn will square off in hopes to get a leg-up on their competitor and work toward playoff eligibility. For the visiting Demarest, they feature a set of triplets that will be together for at least one more season. The youngest of the trio, [player_tooltip player_id='1475747' first='DaeJuan' last='Joseph'], is having a tremendous season and start to his career. Thus far Joseph has 27 receptions for 342 yards and 7 scores. Much of that was earned in his 7 catch, 139 yard, 4 touchdown performance against Bellville in week 3, so Joseph will look to continue to be consistent, having scored in three straight games. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1524796' first='Joseph' last='Yun'] is the team's signal caller, quarterbacking efficient play to the tune of 53-84 for 678 yards with 11 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. Yun has also scored twice on the ground. The Noresman tick with [player_tooltip player_id='284072' first='Reed' last='Kauderer'] running out of the backfield. On the season the junior has rushed 88 times for 823 yards and 13 touchdowns. A respectable threat through the air too, he has caught 6 balls for 112 yards while scoring twice. Lastly, on defense sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1513552' first='Panayiotis' last='Amitsis']. Amitsis may just have 15 tackles on the season, but 8 of those were tackles for losses and 6 where sacks.

Fair Lawn has benefited of stellar quarterback play from senior [player_tooltip player_id='1524797' first='Ty' last='Christianson']. Christianson has gone 34-62 on the season for 687 yards with 12 touchdowns to only 4 interceptions. Additionally, Christianson has called his number 40 times for 237 yards with 4 scores. Christianson is the ground-game compliment to fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='1054409' first='Nick' last='Shahinian'], who is the team's leading rusher. Shahinian has rushed 56 times for 469 yards with 5 scores.

Wallkill Valley (4-2) at Whippany Park (2-3), 6pm

In a National Blue battle that is sure to have a big say as to who wins the division, the Rangers head into Whippany Park. [player_tooltip player_id='1005646' first='Zack' last='Clarken'] quarterbacks the Rangers quad and has had a really good season, going 66-105 through the air for 912 yards with 11 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Clarken is also Wallkill Valley's leading rusher, slashing 42/339/6 on the ground. The primary back is a sophomore named [player_tooltip player_id='1524798' first='Travis' last='Barlow']. Barlow has slashed 67/328/2 on the ground to make defenses unsure as to exactly who they should prioritize stopping. Clarken has his favorite receiver when needs a play with junior [player_tooltip player_id='1524799' first='Connor' last='Hoebee']. Hoebee has hauled in 29 receptions for 389 yards and 4 scores - all team highs.

There were a few game balls that went out last week from me to a few of Whippany Park's offensive players, so for this preview we will focus on defenders that must slow down Clarken, Hoebee, and Barlow. A good place to start is with senior [player_tooltip player_id='1524803' first='Patrick' last='Dalgauer']. Dalgauer leads his squad in tackles with 41 and fumble recoveries with 2. Dalgauer has also forced one ball loose, made 2.5 sacks, and had 2 tackles for loss. Two linemen in the trenches have made just about equal contributions in the trenches with [player_tooltip player_id='1258509' first='Lazaro' last='Lima'], junior, and big brother [player_tooltip player_id='1524804' first='Leo' last='Lima'], a senior. Leo is the team leader with 3 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss to go along with his 25 tackles. Lazaro, on the other hand, has made 24 tackles with 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss, but has also forced and recovered a fumble.

West Morris (5-1) at Montville (5-0), 6:30pm

Two well coached teams compete during some Thursday night football as the Wolfpack head to Montville to take their shot at the undefeated Mustangs. For visiting West Morris, they feature a back of rushers that threaten at any point in time at any spot on the field. [player_tooltip player_id='1524806' first='Peter' last='Miragliotta'] has earned himself the role as the lead back, and has produced to the tune of 790 yards and 5 touchdowns on 108 carries. The team leader in touchdowns is [player_tooltip player_id='1260347' first='Jaxon' last='Corkery'] with 8. To go along with Corkery's team-lead in scores, he has gone for 424 yards on 66 carries. Lastly, [player_tooltip player_id='1524808' first='Brady' last='Bentrewicz'] gets his too, slashing 43/296/4 on the ground. Should the game be close, expect West Morris to have no hesitancy to try a field goal. [player_tooltip player_id='1466636' first='Johnny' last='Vieira'] has gone 4-5 in field goal attempts, nailing a 38-yarder.

Is there anything that [player_tooltip player_id='1012783' first='Anthony' last='Feaster'] does not do for his Mustangs? As the team's leading rusher he has rushed 55 times for 391 yards; however, he has managed to score on 16% of those carries for 9 scores. Furthermore, Feaster is actually Montville's leading receiver, slashing 19/286/2 as a target. Although he only has been credited with 10 tackles on defense, Feaster is a dynamic playmaker, intercepted 3 passes, forcing a fumble, recovering one, blocking a kick, and taking one interception back for a score. Expect senior [player_tooltip player_id='1524809' first='Sean' last='Elsmore'] to make plays on defense, too, as he has been credited with 14 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery to go along with his 28 stops. For as great as a year Elsmore is having, junior [player_tooltip player_id='1524810' first='Dante' last='Palladino'] might be having a better one. Palladino has made 13 tackles for loss, sacked the quarterback 8 times, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble for a touchdown, and made 28 tackles.

Friday, October 11

Mendham (5-1) at Chatham (4-1), 3pm

In what figures to be yet another tight contest, Mendham travels to Chatham on Friday afternoon. This matinee football will go a long way to figuring the Liberty Blue division champion, as if Chatham wins they will have the head-to-head tiebreaker on Mendham, who is currently undefeated in their division.

The visiting Minutemen are highly one dimensional, favoring the ground game 251 carries to 19 passing attempts on the year. Furthermore, fourteen players have logged at least one carry, with four players with 19 or more. Their leading carrier is [player_tooltip player_id='1524816' first='Cole' last='Capuzzi'], who has slashed 84/681/9 on the ground this season. [player_tooltip player_id='1524819' first='Kevin' last='King'] is a bit more explosive complementary piece, having gone 63/612/7 himself. Further, both players have intercepted 2 passes each. A lineman to look out for is junior [player_tooltip player_id='1524820' first='Ralph' last='Langone']. Langone has made 40 tackles on defense (15 solo) with 6 tackles for loss. Joining him is [player_tooltip player_id='1524821' first='William' last='Wallace'], a senior, who leads the team with 3.5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 30 tackles.

The host Cougars prefer to pass the ball, having thrown it 13 more times than they have ran it so far. [player_tooltip player_id='1524822' first='Will' last='Allen'] is the man under center and has produced strong results. Allen, a senior, has gone 75-135 for 1104 yards with 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, while also punching it in 3 times on the ground. Allen's favorite target is a young sophomore in [player_tooltip player_id='1524824' first='Nick' last='Laguowich']. Laguowich easily leads Chatham in all major receiving categories with 33 catches for 523 yards and 5 scores. Stuck in the middle between the senior and the sophomore is junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1524825' first='Hunter' last='Bigham']. Bigham leads the team in tackles with 38, sacks with 3.5, and tackles for loss with 6.5. Bigham has also forced a fumble and intercepted a pass.

St. Joseph's Montvale (4-1) at Don Bosco (2-3), 7pm

In head coach Augie Hoffmann's return to St. Joseph's Montvale, the leader of the Green Knights made major changes. Out is quarterback Kyle Mercorelli and in is former Willingboro quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='402227' first='Lamar' last='Best']. Off to an outstanding start Best has played efficiently, completing 56-87 attempts for 864 yards with 9 touchdowns and no picks. Best has also got it done with his legs too, leading his new squad in rushing with 294 yards and 6 scores on just 34 carries. It appears that junior [player_tooltip player_id='212398' first='Nate' last='Bailey']. Bailey leads the Green Knights with 21 receptions for 281 yards and 3 scores.

After several "down" seasons, the host Ironmen look to get over the hump this year. Despite a two game losing streak, Don Bosco lost only by 4 to the state's number 1 team, on the road, to Bergen Catholic. The followed that up with a 1 point loss to an extremely talented DePaul Catholic squad. As a quarterback controversy seems to be developing the last two weeks between [player_tooltip player_id='675617' first='Devin' last='Sisler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='121685' first='Dylan' last='Wrona'], running back [player_tooltip player_id='1524826' first='Dante' last='DeLuca'] is a consistent, stabilizing force. The Ironmen's leading rusher has gone for 354 carries and 6 scores on the ground on 75 attempts. Their linebackers seem to be keep them in games defensively between the duo of juniors in [player_tooltip player_id='212395' first='Matt' last='Occhipinti'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1524828' first='Gino' last='Greco']. Occhipinti seems to clean up everything in front of him, as he has been credited with 27 tackles - a team high - with 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack. Greco on the other hand, has contributed with 11 tackles but has made a few more disruptive plays. In addition to 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss, Greco has also intercepted a pass and recorded a safety.
