Lets take a look at an exciting week five slate of games with these six matchups that I will be keeping a close eye on.

#2 Millard South (4-0) AT #7 Lincoln Southeast (3-1)

The red-hot Patriots will face their third straight top-10 opponent when they travel to Lincoln to face the Southeast Knights. Millard South has been dominant since their week one loss to Arizona power Basha, as they've outscored their opponents 171-24 in the last three games. Millard South QB [player_tooltip player_id='476963' first='Jett' last='Thomalla'] has reached another level this season, carving up defenses with precision. Florida State commit [player_tooltip player_id='319200' first='Chase' last='Loftin'], [player_tooltip player_id='318990' first='Aamir' last='Hill'], and the junior trio of [player_tooltip player_id='487568' first='Amarion' last='Jackson'], Dashawn Prince, and [player_tooltip player_id='487573' first='Isaac' last='Jensen'] have proven too much to handle for opposing defenses. Lincoln Southeast bounced back last week, beating Norfolk 28-17 after suffering their first loss in week three against Creighton Prep. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='318996' first='Cash' last='Buettenback'] has been a workhorse on offense and defense, leading the team in rushing yards and tackles (47 tackles). The Southeast defense has looked solid, with great players at all three levels, so it will be interesting to see how they match up with the Patriots.

#5 Papillion-La Vista Monarch (4-0) AT #6 Creighton Prep (3-1)

The Creighton Prep Jays will host the Monarchs this weekend as both teams look to continue their hot streak. Papillion-La Vista has played great on both sides of the ball, putting up big numbers on offense and only allowing 16 points in the past three games. Monarch's quarterback Cam Leggett is coming off a historic performance against Bellevue East, where he threw 7 touchdown passes, which tied a state record. Creighton Prep has been rolling since their week one loss to the out-of-state team, De Smet Jesuit (MO). The Jays have been playing a rugged, ground-and-pound style behind their RB duo of Jacob Ruby and [player_tooltip player_id='1113969' first='Angelo' last='Walker']. Expect a lot of physical play in the trenches, as both teams boast solid offensive and defensive lines.

#8 Lincoln East (3-1) AT #4 Kearney (3-1)

The Lincoln East Spartans will head west to take on the Kearney Bearcats in another Class A top-10 matchup. Since losing in week one against Elkhorn South, the Spartans have won three games in a row to earn a spot in the top 10 going into week five. Led by junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1625851' first='Ryan' last='Manning'], the Lincoln East offense has steadily found its footing as it continues to infuse new and young players. Kearney is fresh off a strong defensive showing against top-10 Omaha North. The Bearcat defense has been smothering this season, featuring an elite LB group with Kansas State commit [player_tooltip player_id='545268' first='Sawyer' last='Schilke'], [player_tooltip player_id='893494' first='Reese' last='Bertrand'], and [player_tooltip player_id='988633' first='Ryan' last='Meier'].

#1 Bennington (4-0) vs. #7 Gretna (2-2)

I personally find this game to be very interesting due to how well both of these teams have performed in recent years. On one hand, you have Bennington, who has run roughshod through Class B en route to three consecutive state titles and an active 43-game winning streak. And on the other side, you have a new (returning?) face to Class B in Gretna, who played in two state championship games in the last three seasons and won one of them (I don't care what the NSAA says). Gretna's [player_tooltip player_id='402158' first='Michael' last='Knudsen'] to [player_tooltip player_id='1429588' first='Bryce' last='Lakers'] connection has been on another level as they've connected with 25 receptions for 567 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Dragon's offensive line, featuring [player_tooltip player_id='551754' first='Kalvin' last='Janssen'], [player_tooltip player_id='736114' first='Ben' last='Meerian'], and [player_tooltip player_id='319538' first='Griffin' last='Goldman'], is also among the best, not just in Class B but in the state. That will be an interesting matchup as they'll face a ferocious Bennington defensive line that has been able to dominate in the trenches thus far. Sophomore RB [player_tooltip player_id='1085199' first='Will' last='Gutz'] has been running hard for the Badgers this season and will play a part in sustaining long drives against the Dragons.

#2 Battle Creek (4-0) vs. #3 Oakland-Craig (4-0) - GAME OF THE WEEK

The game of the week in Week 5 is the monster top-3 matchup between Battle Creek and Oakland-Craig, which has major Class C2 playoff implications. Both the Knights and Braves enter the game with an unblemished 4-0 record, but each plays with its own style. Oakland-Craig has one of the most dynamic offenses in C2, with [player_tooltip player_id='518055' first='Braylon' last='Anderson'] shredding defenses left and right very accurately. They also have a complementary running game with the return of Jaxen Jorgenson, who missed last season due to injury. Battle Creek is a team that likes to have possession of the ball and can grind away at their opponent's defense with a ground-and-pound run game. They have the horses up front to generate a push at the line of scrimmage with Air Force commit [player_tooltip player_id='425536' first='Dawson' last='Amick'] and junior Conor Heiderman. Will Battle Creek's ability to wear defenses away be their key to victory or will Oakland-Craig's fast, high-flying offense erase that advantage?

#3 Summerland (3-1) AT #10 Plainview (3-1)

Despite the loss last week, Summerland proved to be legit as they battled back and forth against the reigning D1 champion Stanton Mustangs. Summerland has a lot of under-the-radar talent, especially in its offensive trio of [player_tooltip player_id='1056241' first='Michael' last='Koenig'], [player_tooltip player_id='1056242' first='Sam' last='Cheatum'], and [player_tooltip player_id='736411' first='Alec' last='Schindler']. The Bobcats' defense also does a great job providing opportunities for the offense, with nine turnovers through four games. The Plainview Pirates are another team that seems primed to make a deep November run, but they still face a tough road ahead. Nonetheless, with a core group of players like [player_tooltip player_id='414785' first='Jacson' last='King'], [player_tooltip player_id='1115017' first='Gage' last='Walton'], Karter & Kohen Lingenfelter, and Harrison Thor they should be able to stand tall against any opponent.
