Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Lamar Thomas is ranked as a premier 2029 QB in GA, and some people close to him believe he has the tools to emerge as THE premier signal caller, which would be a feat in what is shaping up to be a talented 2029 QB class in Georgia. He had his first glimpse of varsity action at times last year, and whether he gets a shot this fall or not, he is still someone to monitor and track. Thomas has a long, elastic, natural throwing motion and gets easy heat on the ball. He is a true dual threat who can be a game-changer as a runner, not just a chain mover. If he gets a shot this fall, watch out. He has some serious playmaking ability.

It’s a matter of time before Thomas picks up the major recruiting attention he deserves, and it will probably align with his eventual breakout on varsity. Thomas has an over-the-top release and a big arm, easily pushing and spinning the ball downhill. His release should speed up as he develops and tightens. He can be a difference maker as a runner. He is stout, quick to his top speed, and hard to bring down at contact. Wouldn’t be shocked if college coaches want to get ahead of the game with an offer this spring, but regardless, his breakout is inevitable.

He may not have put up big numbers this year, but Thomas Jr.’s time will certainly come. He’s a big, talented dual-threat quarterback who can launch the ball vertically and take off for a big gain with every carry. He didn’t start last season for Valdosta, but the talent and potential is easy to see. He’s got outstanding arm talent and should only grow and add more muscle over time. If he wins the starting job next fall as a sophomore, look for Thomas to have a possible “breakout” season. The numbers aren’t there, but the arm strength, mobility, and sky-high potential has him as the No. 2 QB prospect in the state right now in the 2029 class.

A big quarterback in South Georgia with easy five-star potential, Thomas Jr. is a terrific athlete with a chance to be a dominant high school quarterback down the road at Valdosta. At 6-foot-2 185-pounds, Thomas Jr. already looks like a major prospect and has enough arm talent to earn major offers sooner than later. He can run, throw, and has a chance to have an outstanding high school career if he continues to develop. He has enough size, arm talent, and mobility to push for five-star status down the road. Everyone will know his name at some point, but Prep Redzone already has him ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the country for the 2029 class.

I love the skill-set and ability that Lamar Thomas brings to the table. His ability to throw the ball as well as move in the pocket and even out of the pocket creates a buzz of excitement and will continue to catch the attention of college coaches in the near future. He’s a talent that is on the conversation as one of the best QBs in the 2029 class in Georgia!

has been one of the better quarterbacks in this 2029 class and he is a consistent thrower of the football along with his ability to move around. He has the leadership qualities and the strong in game IQ to will his team to a victory. Thomas is a guy who can make big time clutch plays when his number is called upon. He’s definitely a talent that will not go unnoticed in this 2029 class for the quarterbacks position.
