Here’s a quick look at top five quarterbacks, by passing yardage, in the Suburban Conference Green Pool this spring.
Micheal Hopkins Micheal Hopkins 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB McCluer | 2022 MO , QB, 5-11, 188, McCluer, Class of 2022
Hopkins completed 56.3 percent of his passes for 1,114 yards, with nine touchdowns against just one interception. He added 199 yards and four touchdowns on 23 rushing attempts.
Hopkins, who led McCluer to a 3-2 record, will be an intriguing quarterback to watch this fall.
Logan Williams, QB, 6-3, 225, Pattonville, Class of 2021
Williams proved himself as a dangerous dual-threat quarterback for Pattonville (4-1) this spring. He completed 61.2 percent of his passes for 752 yards and eight touchdowns and also ran for 350 yards and seven scores.
As a junior, Williams completed 57 percent of his passes for 890 yards, with six touchdowns and five interceptions, and ran for 249 yards and four scores.
Williams committed to Iowa Central in late January.
Bryson Brown Bryson Brown 6'4" | 170 lbs | QB Hazelwood Central | 2022 MO , QB, 6-4, 170, Hazelwood Central, Class of 2022
Hazelwood Central (4-1) had a prolific rushing attack this spring, but the passing game was effective as well with Brown leading the way.
Brown completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 627 yards and eight touchdowns, against two interceptions.
His spring film was some of my favorite to watch.
Mekhi Holmes, QB, 6-3, 180, Hazelwood East, Class of 2022
A left-hander with a quick release, Holmes didn’t put up eye-popping numbers, but showed he could lead the offense and win games, as evidenced by East’s 3-1 record.
Holmes completed 52.2 percent of his passes for 494 yards, with four touchdowns and four interceptions, and ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Marcellus Griffin, QB-RB, 5-9, 175, Ritenour, Class of 2021
A converted running back, Griffin was a dynamic dual-threat player for Ritenour and should get college looks as a running back.
As a passer, Griffin completed 60 percent of his passes (21 of 35) for 426 yards, with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. As a runner, Griffin racked up 498 yards and 10 touchdowns.
As a junior, in 2019, he rushed for 899 yards and seven touchdowns.
