Damarcus is one of my favorite edge defenders. He doesn’t have elite length, and that may force him into an off-ball LB role, but the athletic traits can’t be questioned. Damarcus has exceptional burst/acceleration out of his stance and when closing on the ball. Chappell has developed very effective hand fighting moves that allowed him to get the hands of the OL down, and from there it was easy for him to get past them and to the ball. The subtle lateral agility further makes him a difficult man to block and stay in front of. There are plenty of tools to work with here.

Stats: 11 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 SacksrnOne of the best pure pass rushers in the state grabbed another sack this week. The 6’2” 220 lbs DE has been one of the most consistent pass rushers for years now. Hard to believe he is still under the radar. In Week 3 we saw some versatility from the senior as he made impact plays while playing from a two point and three point stance. What has always been his best trait, and continues to be in this tape, is his first step. Damarcus jumps off the ball at the snap and instantly puts the OT in bad position as they try to cut him off. Not many can, and that burst carries right into his long speed and range to chase down plays or quickly close on the QB. This week we also saw him take on running plays coming at him. Chappell was stout enough to end the play in the backfield despite having to fight through a block. Damarcus is the model of consistency at pass rushing. Any team at the D2/D3 levels that want to bolster that part of their defense should be lining up to talk with him.

College coaching staffs need to get back out to Nicolet HS because our next athlete also attends there. It is the 6’2″ 220 lbs DE/Edge defender

. Damarcus is a nightmare matchup with his speed, burst, and agility. He finished in second in sacks in the entire state of WI thanks to ability to burst out of his stance, run the loop, and bend underneath OTs trying to get their hands on him. Chappell carries the speed from that firs step all the way to the QB. He closes quickly and violently. Damarcus also has shown solid hand fighting techniques and pass rush moves. He is going to be right back in the race for the most sacks in the state. Time for a team to come add that third down threat to their defense.

My next choice finished second in the state in 2022 with 13 sacks. Damarcus is a pass rush specialist. His first step explosiveness off the edge gives OTs fits as they try to cut him off. Chappell is just too quick though, and with his closing speed QBs have little chance to escape him. The speedy, twitchy edge defender should have plenty of opportunities to get after the QB because his offense is also a talented one. They have OL talent, and one of the top receivers in the state. So teams should be forced to score and give Chappell is chances at getting to the QB.

finished second in the state. He returns to the field with the talent to get after the QB. Talent that will require the attention of next level coaches. His burst off the line and violent hands make him hard to get a lineman in front of in passing situations. He is a violent athlete. His defensive efforts helped Nicolet make the playoffs. Look for him and Nicolet to make another impressive run.

Stats: 8 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 SackrnThe 6’2″ 220 lbs DE/OLB has put together a strong first two weeks of his junior season. His athleticism stands out from the crowd in his Week Two film. Demarcus proved his range to make plays out in space, and chase down the ball. He has a high motor as well that helped him fight through multiple blocks to get pressure on the QB. I also like what I saw from Damarcus’ hand usage. He is still developing moves, but he was active with them to get hands down allowing him to beat blocks. Chappell has definitely made a jump in his development since last fall.
