2024 Team Preview: Brophy College Prep Broncos

We will continue to preview teams to cover players that you should be on the lookout for when watching these programs. We will resume in the 6A Central Division with the Brophy College Prep Broncos.   The Brophy Prep Broncos are set to be a powerhouse under head coach Jason Jewell. They went 10-3 last season, making a deep run in the 6A postseason however losing in the the semifinals to Red Mountain in OT. Now they are set to reload in 2024 with many key pieces returning and new guys rising in their roster.   Here are some guys that will be key difference makers on the Brophy Roster:    We start with a behemoth of an individual, 2025 Offensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='368907' first='Logan' last='Powell']. Listed at 6'6 280lbs, it should come as no surprise when I say he is arguably the best lineman in the state. The Wisconsin commit has established himself as the secure option for the Broncos offense, keeping QBs out of harm's way. His lateral movement and quickness to get out of his stance are phenomenal. His strength at the point of attack and striking ability are very good. He never gets off balance or loses leverage with his tremendous balance in both run and passing games. Powell will definitely headline what this offense does going forward.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/LoganPowell_77/status/1797041923355742565 </div></figure>     2025 Offensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='954318' first='Anderson' last='Kopp'] will be another big man in the trenches for the Broncos offense. At a 6'3 270lb frame, Kopp played primarily at center but did have snaps at both tackle spots. He is a dynamic player who can hurt you in the run game with very good hand usage, pad level, and good power at the point of attack. His pass protection especially at center is highly entertaining when he knocks and disrupts defensive linemen, getting them off balance. But what is special about Kopp's game is his ability in space with great agility and force he brings when he lays his blocks. The Kansas commit will be one of the most interesting linemen to watch in the whole state.      2025 Wide Receiver [player_tooltip player_id='368950' first='Christian' last='Camarata'] is looking to turn heads his senior season. He was the leading receiver last year for the Brophy Broncos and will certainly hope to do that again. With 48 Catches for 541 yards and 4 TDs, it will be interesting to see what he can do with the young wide receiver talent on this roster. A twitchy slot receiver who can occupy the middle of the field and find holes in the defense as well as get downfield in a hurry. He has unreal hands and great sideline catching ability displaying some awesome toe-tapping catches. Camarata has picked up his first offer from Drake University and should see more as the season progresses.      2026 Defensive Lineman Joshua Finch-Logan is a space eater down in the trenches. Heading into his junior year at a 280lb frame will make it tough for opposing linemen to move him off the line of scrimmage. Last season, he brought in 22 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble as a sophomore showing great signs of potential. He has an impressive base and play strength that allows him to stabilize himself on double teams. He takes quality angles of pursuit on ball carriers and lays into them with his weight. Look out for Finch-Logan to have a special junior year in the Brophy defense.      2025 Defensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1573428' first='Noah' last='Hubbard'] was a guy under the radar for this Brophy defense last year. He was asked to take on tons of double teams last season when fighting in the trenches. He still produced 19 total tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and a sack from the interior of this defensive line. Showing good upfield burst and strength when attacking at the line of scrimmage, his hand placement and extension make it very hard for linemen to gain leverage on him. When the ball goes to the outside, he displays good lateral movement and agility to pursue ball carriers. Hubbard is a key man on this defensive line and will most likely see more attention for his senior season.      2025 Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='522674' first='Dominic' last='Mitchell'] will be the swiss army knife for this Broncos defense. He is a high flying, electric playmaker for Brophy making tackles left and right for this team last season. Mitchell brought in 72 total tackles, 53 of those as solo tackles, and 5.5 TFLs in his junior campaign and is bound for even bigger production with some senior departures on defense. Elite play speed with excellent burst and acceleration, he is going to light up opposing offenses in a blink of an eye. He can blow up players anywhere on the field especially over the middle with his hard hitting tackles. The senior recently announced his commitment to Kansas State and is ready for a spectacular upcoming season.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/dommitchell_/status/1803503058946863532 </div></figure>     2025 Defensive Back [player_tooltip player_id='368909' first='Cree' last='Thomas'] will be a defensive leader for the Broncos. The Norte Dame commit at a 6'1 170lb frame played in varied positions in the secondary last year. Bringing in 43 total tackles, 5 Int, and 4 Pass Deflections from the previous season, he will look to try to replicate those numbers in 2024. Thomas has excellent length and speed covering tons of ground in zone or man to man coverage. He has extraordinary ball skills that limits QBs as you just can't throw the ball his way. A high energy sparker for this defense who can play safety, corner, or nickel. It will be exciting to see how Thomas develops for the upcoming season.
