Continue ReadingThe defensive back room had a lot of shakeups including one of our biggest risers from last year more on him in a bit. Another loaded position group with 13 prospects in our top 100, the corners in this class are for real. The top 5 analysis are below, with some familiar faces leading the way:
One of our biggest risers from last year is North Cross superstar Jase Rhodes Jase Rhodes 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB North Cross | 2026 State VA . I told you about this young man before, since just a few weeks he has obtained an offer from Penn State too. With the new recruitment cycle underway, do not be surprised if he has 10 Power 5 offers, here is what I wrote last month:
One of my favorite prospects for this class is North Cross all state defensive back Jase Rhodes Jase Rhodes 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB North Cross | 2026 State VA for a various of reasons. Since we last wrote on him the multi sport star has picked up offers from Tennessee and South Carolina, his stock is soaring! When he is not picking up power 5 offers, Rhodes is dominating the track and field circuit for the Raiders, collecting multiple state medals in the triple jump and both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, the kid is a star. Now that he has finally obtained a few well deserved offers, I expect the floodgates to open and numerous schools to send them.

While his teammate and top 2025 prospect Christian Evans Christian Evans 6'3" | 280 lbs | DL Stone Bridge | 2025 State VA announced his plans to attend Virginia Tech next fall, Chase Geter Chase Geter 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Stone Bridge | 2026 State VA has more time to make his decision and the suitors are not slowing down. Recently he stated he will be playing both sides of the football this fall, which should big a big concern for the rest of the conference. I broke down his work earlier this month below:
Defensive back Chase Geter Chase Geter 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Stone Bridge | 2026 State VA was previously graded high when we last did the rankings and his sophomore year did not slow his hype down at all. Geter had 3 interceptions to go along with 10 pass breakups, you can see why now he has FCS level offers nearly every week. His ball skills and vision are off the chart, really doesn’t make much sense for any schools to throw in his direction for the next two seasons. With his most recent offer coming from the East Carolina Pirates, Geter should have close to 15 offers before week 1.

Really impressed with Green Run’s corner Shawn Church Jr. Shawn Church Jr. 6'3" | 180 lbs | DB Green Run | 2026 State VA , coming in at 14th overall in this class, he has earned his high ranking. He is 6’3 and 180 lbs. with the speed and footwork that even the top wideouts in the state have difficulties getting separation from.
Already possessing offers from Duke, Temple and Delaware Shawn Church Jr. Shawn Church Jr. 6'3" | 180 lbs | DB Green Run | 2026 State VA should be a power 5 defensive back in two years. Maybe the tallest corner in Virginia he is also an honor student with a 3.7 GPA, bright things are awaiting for this special talent.
Highlights
The next star from Oscar Smith appears to be this young man Jayden Covil Jayden Covil 5'11" | 160 lbs | DB Oscar Smith | 2026 State VA , who is already making a lasting impression among FBS coaches. Covil’s back pedal and footwork shows you he is game day ready and his long reach is difficult for opposing quarterbacks to navigate thru. This kid is a star and his versatility shows you he can play corner or free safety at the next level.

One FBS offer is not enough for Maury’s Hunter Collins Jr. Hunter Collins Jr. 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Maury | 2026 State VA the reigning state champ deserves more! He plays corner, safety and wideout for the Commodores and is always around the football regardless. Demonstrating great range and quarterback awareness in his coverage skills, Collins has a chance to lead Maury to another state title this fall.
