Now that those tplayers have been covered, I wanted to focus on some more under the radar players in the class that were just added in the recent update. With that being said, here are some notable new additions from our 2027 rankings update to keep an eye on.
Dre’mail Carothers
Dre’mail
Carothers
6'1" | 165 lbs | QB
Owensboro Catholic | 2027
State
KY
is a player that is sitting in the wings behind a very talented starting quarterback but is looking to be a very promising prospect once his time comes. In that backup role last season, Carothers appeared in 14 games, completing 38/53 passes for 529 yards, six touchdowns, and no interceptions. Carothers has impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit receivers out of their breaks where only they can catch the ball. He has also shown the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. Dre’mail doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect him to be a player to watch as he continues to develop and his role grows in the offense.
Highlights
Bryce Bentley Bryce Bentley 6'2" | 155 lbs | QB Lexington Christian Academy | 2027 State KY is another quarterback who played in a backup role last season but he could have a chance to take over the reigns this season. Bentley puts very impressive touch on his passes, putting the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. He also is very reliable when rolling out of the pocket, showing the ability to keep his eyes down the field and make throws on the run. Bentley doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye once he gets more opportunities.
Highlights
Dakari Talber is a running back who caught my attention with a solid freshman year. He finished this past season with 34 carries for 216 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games. He is a hard runner, showing the contact balance to break tackles with ease without losing stride. Talbert has also shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Dakari currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop.
Highlights
Another 2027 prospect from Frederick Douglass who stood out to me when watching freshman year film is Tacori Fields Tacori Fields 6'0" | 175 lbs | LB Frederick Douglass | 2027 State KY . Fields lines up at middle linebacker where he is very impressive against the run. He does a great job of reading his keys then using his speed to burst through the gap in a hurry to meet the ball carrier before they can get going. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he explodes through contact and finishes the tackle with a ton of physicality. Fields doesn’t currently hold any offers but he will be a player to watch as his role in the Broncos’ defense continues to grow.
Highlights
My final new addition to watch from the class of 2027 rankings update is Connor Holbrook Connor Holbrook 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Hazard | 2027 State KY . On defense, Holbrook lines up at safety where he is very reliable against the run. He does a great job of reading the play and filling the lane quickly to get to the ball carrier. Holbrook finished this past season with 72 tackles and three tackles for loss in 11 games. He also played a role on offense as a receiver this past season, catching 10 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Connor doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on over the next three seasons.
