It’s been awesome teaming up with Oscar Galindo in updating and adding to these rankings just like when we freshened up the ’26 and ’27 lists this offseason. We’ve watched hours of video on these guys in hopes of highlighting as many prospects as possible.
It’s a tough call at the top of our new rankings with several candidates for No. 1. Ultimately, the combination of present production and future projection lifts massive Cedar Rapids Kennedy offensive tackle Nick Brooks Nick Brooks 6'8" | 355 lbs | OL Cedar Rapids Kennedy | 2025 State IA to first. His final six prospective colleges are Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, USC, Colorado and Iowa.
Thomas Meyer Thomas Meyer 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Clear Lake | 2025 State IA , an Iowa commitment, checks in at No. 2. While some scouts saw him on defense, the Hawkeyes are bringing him in as a tight end. They’ve enjoyed a lot success at that position, and Meyer has a chance to be the next standout there.
Iowa State pledge Xzavion Robinson Xzavion Robinson 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR West Des Moines Valley | 2025 State IA is our third-ranked prospect. He’s one of the most college-ready receivers the state has produced in recent memory. Robinson looks like a guy that could play early in his college career.
Another Cyclone commitment is No. 4. Cedar Falls offensive lineman Will Tompkins Will Tompkins 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Cedar Falls | 2025 State IA reports scholarship offers from USC, Penn State, Tennessee and others. Like his future teammate, Robinson, Tompkins could get on the field early in college.
No. 5 is Pleasant Valley’s Joey VanWetzinga Joey VanWetzinga 6'2" | 255 lbs | OL Pleasant Valley | 2025 State IA . The Hawkeye verbal commitment, a mauler in the trenches, was viewed as a prospect on both sides of the ball. VanWetzinga likely will start out at center for Iowa and boasts the starter kit to excel at that position in college.
Algona teammates Jack Limbaugh Jack Limbaugh 6'4" | 225 lbs | DL Algona | 2025 State IA and Alex Manske Alex Manske 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Algona | 2025 State IA are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively. Limbaugh and Manske supply Algona with a pair of Power 4 players, not something we see often in Class 3A. The former has a chance to be a very disruptive defensive lineman, while the latter is among the better signal callers in the region.
Waukee’s Malachi Curvey Malachi Curvey 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA ranks eighth on our list. We have him listed as an Athlete because he’s a really good one and has position flexibility. The Kansas commitment also claims offers from Iowa State, Kansas State and Missouri.
Mason Woods Mason Woods 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Iowa City West | 2025 State IA , the son of Iowa special teams coordinator LeVar Woods, is a versatile performer with potential on both sides of the ball. The Hawkeyes, who he’ll officially visit next month, view the No. 9 prospect on our list as a tight end to start out.
Axel Ramazani Axel Ramazani 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Urbandale | 2025 State IA rounds out the Top 10 and is the only guy in this writeup being ranked by us for the first time. He’s an intriguing combination of present day production with a sizable ceiling. He reports offers from Cincinnati, Washington State, Wyoming and others.
Keep an eye out for a lot more write-ups generated from this update.
