Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Peyton finished his high school football career with a great season. He threw 19 TDs, ran in 16 more, and only threw 1 INT all season long. Peyton mastered his offense and understood where to go with the ball. Then he proved he could get it into spots on time and in positions where only his man could go and get it. Peyton made a leap in his arm strength over the past year. The senior tape shows the ability to get the ball downfield off balance and drive it on a rope to the intermediate to deep levels when he can set his feet. The multi-sport standout is one of the best QBs uncommitted in this Class. Check out the highlights.

Stats: 4/5, 114 Passing Yards, 2 TDs, 2 Carries, 20 yards, 2 TDs
The uncommitted senior QB has his team rolling early in the playoffs. He had 6 total completions/carries and was still responsible for 4 TDs. Unreal efficiency, but the experienced senior is no stranger to crazy stat lines. It is fun tape to watch. Peyton drives the ball into a receiver. Then he goes back to back to back dimes with touch deep downfield, including both of his TD completions. Both rushing TDs came on great reads where he pulled the ball and showed off the speed to easily get around the edge and into the endzone. Peyton made it look easy. He and this Columbus team are gearing up for a run. Can’t wait to see how Level 2 goes for them.

We have another impressively efficient performance to talk about here. Peyton has led the Columbus offense to a lot of wins and success in his time at the helm. Friday night he put together a quick, but strong example of his personal talents. The senior delivered passes to every level of the field with accuracy and did it in rhythm and on the move. He stretched the field up the seam with accuracy and showed touch on his check down that went for a score. The final play of the tape shows off more of that accuracy and easy arm strength following a great play fake that even got the cornerback he targeted to bite. Check it all out here.

Columbus uses a very run-centric offense that will sprinkle in the pass game throughout the night. That makes it hard for a QB to find his rhythm, at least early on in a game. However, Peyton has been able to show that he can step up and deliver whenever called on. One of his first passes of the game was a 50+ yard dime for a score. The junior wins with that accuracy and touch to every level of the field. Powers has a fantastic frame to continue to build on and strengthen. The junior signal caller also isn’t afraid to run the ball himself and he has the speed to do damage. Check out his highlights from the game.

. The sophomore proved to be a very poised leader of the offense in his first season as the full time starter. When I watched the tape and focused solely on his feet that became even more apparent. On a snap to snap basis the footwork was exactly the same. The same wide, stable base. The same footwork in his drop. The shuffle to avoid pressure and quick reset to get the ball out. The sophomores consistency in his feet shows me he is comfortable and confident in the pocket. I’m excited to see him lead this team in the fall.

is a 6’3″ 170 lbs sophomore who stepped in and did his part to lead a talented offense. Watching through the tape, Peyton shows a budding skill set for the position. He is a quick decision maker and poised in the pocket. We see him consistently show an accurate arm that can hit his man in stride and place the ball where it needs to be to protect it from the DB. Along with the accuracy we see many examples of excellent touch on his passes. Peyton is able to drop it in over the shoulder or between two levels of defenders where they can’t get to it in time. That touch is key on his deep passes. Powers also shows that he can zip the ball on a rope in the short to intermediate ranges. Peyton is at a solid place in his development. I’m excited to see what is to come over these next two years for him.
