After showcasing some intriguing junior playmakers, here’s my list of five 2026 quarterbacks in Kentucky to know about this upcoming fall.
In the first place spot on my list is Jakylin Kirkland Jakylin Kirkland 5’11” | 180 lbs | QB North Hardin | 2026 State KY , a quarterback at North Hardin High School. What impresses me about Kirkland is his ability to quickly execute off the snap, utilizing his quick release and accuracy to find his receivers for the short pass. I also like Kirkland’s ability to maneuver the pocket and find open targets deep in the backfield for the long pass. Kirkland’s footwork also stood out.
I am additionally impressed with JT Edge JT Edge 6’0″ | 170 lbs | QB Apollo | 2026 KY , a quarterback at Apollo High School. Edge makes a considerable difference under center due to his composure under pressure as well as his ability to get the ball out of his hands before the defense makes contact. I also like Edge’s ability to connect with his receivers in stride, proving his outstanding arm strength and pin-point accuracy in the air.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Larry Irvin Larry Irvin 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Ballard | 2026 State KY , a quarterback at Ballard High School. Irvin impresses with his footwork and ability to quickly move around the pocket to find an open passing target. I like how Irvin can quickly get the ball out during the blitz. Irvin’s deep passing made a huge difference last season, proving he can complete challenging passes and put his team in the endzone.

Another skilled prospect to keep an eye on is Nathan Verax Nathan Verax 6’1″ | 170 lbs | QB Ryle | 2026 KY , a quarterback at Ryle High School. Verax stands out with his ability to scan the field for receivers and get the ball into the air. I like Verax’s decision-making ability, proving he can release the ball at the right time and throw into coverage down the stretch. Verax’s ability to toss the long ball and quickly advance towards the endzone also impresses.
Coming in at number five on my list is Tyree Stoner Tyree Stoner 5’11” | 175 lbs | QB Christian Academy of Louisville | 2026 State KY , a quarterback at DuPont Manual High School. I like Stoner’s footwork and swift movement in the pocket, showing off his ability to operate under pressure as well as put the ball into the hands of his receivers quickly off the snap. Stoner also impresses from outside the endzone, using his quick release and accuracy to put his team on the scoreboard.
