It was an impressive showing from him, and I’ve continued to follow his football journey. He’s been a lockdown player, but also totaled nearly 40 tackles with a fumble recovery this season.

He’s a compact guy, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 170 pounds with some of the best athleticism in Class 6A. Gentry is a relatively explosive ball player with a relentless motor and some of the best competitiveness you’ll see in 2028. He’s not the biggest and has a few things to clean up. But man, he plays hard every single down.

Gentry has spent time at outside corner, nickel and safety in his junior season. His versatility is obviously great, but his production at corner is impressive. His name hasn’t been called much, which is what you want. He has not allowed a touchdown in 2026.

Gentry was highly explosive down the stretch, using his speed and catching ability to haul in a really impressive deep pass. I also liked how Gentry hustled after the catch, using his versatile edge to juke out the defense and take it all the way.
