Expert Analysis
Nick Rock | Prep Redzone Scout
Crandall is a kid you need to get on your recruiting boards ASAP, as he is one of the most pure all around football players you’ll see. Two way standout at FS and WR, but was also utilized as a wildcat QB, return specialist, and kicker. He’s an instinctual player with excellent play strength to fill alley with a burst and delivery a big hit to drive through opponents or pursuit sideline to sideline and make plays. Crandall shows a good transition and break on the ball with a punch to either punch the ball out for a PBU or initiate immediate contact to jar the ball loose. A very impressive player that has risen to the top of my DB’s list.

Crandall has been flying under the recruiting radar but is a high-caliber safety prospect that has been a staple of the Highland defense over recent years. At 6’3” 185 lbs. he’s got the physical traits and ability to be a quality D1 recruit. He’s rangy in the secondary showing he can cover sideline to sideline or come down aggressively to close space quickly in run support. Possesses great feel for the position with the instincts and key play diagnoses skills that are highly valued for a college level safety. High football IQ, he understands his assignment and is calculated/technical in how he accomplishes it. He limits wasted movement by being under control and patient with his footwork and reads. Ranked #39 overall in the recent updated PRZ state rankings, he’s one of the top ranked prospects in the 2026 class without an offer.

Crandall is a high-level safety prospect with a good frame at 6’2” 180 lbs. with length and growth potential. He’s a smooth and savvy athlete with good hip flexibility and reactionary quickness to break on the ball. Good recovery speed and change of direction while also flashing some burst coming out of his back pedal. Plays well with his eyes to make quick decisive reads and then react. His anticipation of where the ball is going allows him to get an early break and cover a lot of ground to break up passes at the catch point or make quick open field tackles after the catch. Great nose for the football and ball skills, was amongst state leaders with six interceptions and five PBU’s as a sophomore. Reliable one on one tackler in space that brings strong contact and heavy thump when he’s able to line up a ball carrier. Voted second team all-state and first team all-region. No offers yet but will see increased attention but has D1 size and ability.
