An Early Look at the 2027 Running Back Class

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In this first iteration of the 2027 rankings, we have 8 running backs in our rankings system. Three of those backs are currently ranked, and five are on the Watch List. Obviously, filling in that role for that program is a tremendous achievement. When I watched him against Southfield Au0026amp;T way back in Week 1, De'Mari impressed everyone with his patience, vision, and overall good north-south running. He's best utilized between the tackles, as he has a low center of gravity with great contact balance and vision. I also think he has some good explosiveness as he hits the hole. That said, he stands out with his athleticism and open-field abilities. He's shown a ton of flashes once he gets into open space, but he has a lot of room to grow in several areas. The most obvious thing is his inexperience and the fact he still has room to grow physically. It seems like he's set on working very hard this offseason, so those issues should fix themselves. He also needs to improve on his vision. Despite his current flaws, his potential is amazing. Playing a lot of JV for Kalamazoo Central, he tore it up on the field and oftentimes dragged defenders along with him. He isn't going to impress you with his speed or athleticism just yet, but his power and running style leaves me quite optimistic. This is a young prospect that I could see training his tail off and being great. If he's able to get on the field for De La Salle, he's going to produce. The thing is, you really have to earn every Varsity rep with that program. His tape shows a ton of hard running and some decent physicality. However, his tape doesn't show enough great traits for me to rank him just yet. There are a few reps in his tape that show really promising vision and even athleticism, but he does not look explosive, and his top speed isn't where it needs to be. This is not at all surprising, as the vast majority of Freshman football players have these issues- he just needs some time to mature and time in the weight room.
