Recruiting Weekly Recap (Feb. 22nd-28th)

It was another good week of recruiting inside the great state of Tennessee …. Lead Story  - The top in-state signal caller took himself off the recruiting scene last week and is now looking forward to his future in the Southeastern Conference. Westview (TN) QB Ty Simpson Ty Simpson 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Westview | 2022 State TN committed to Alabama over finalists Clemson, Ole Miss and Tennessee and chose the Tide after a long and interesting recruitment.  Simpson is a 5-star prospect according to 247Sports and his talents warrant that status. The West Tennessee product has excellent pocket presence meaning he can make any throw from anywhere behind the line of scrimmage. He has a great feel for the game and is an underrated athlete that moves well. He will have to wait his turn down in Tuscaloosa before he takes over the starting reigns at quarterback but Simpson has the talent, the tools and the makeup to become the main guy for the Crimson Tide in the near future.  Offer King of the Week  Two prospects hold this honor this week …. Re-classified (S) D'Arco Perkins - Georgia, Marshall, Oklahoma Haywood (DB) Jaylen Lewis Jaylen Lewis 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Haywood | 2022 State TN - Arkansas St., Memphis & Virginia Tech - Perkins and Lewis remain hot on the recruiting scene as each week they both add more and more offers. Both are headed to the Power Five level but who will they sign with? That will come in time but for the moment, these are two of the top defensive back prospects we have in-state for the 2022 class.  Underclassmen Spotlight - Everyone needs to start knowing ‘24 Whitehaven (TN) RB Joe Williams Joe Williams 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Melrose | 2024 State TN because he will be a national recruit and one of the top tier recruits in-state for his recruiting class. A powerful, athletic runner with nice size, Williams landed offers last week from both Memphis and Western Ky and they most certainly won't be his last. Power Five programs are already interested or sniffing around, so expect to see an in-flux of offers from the Memphis area product in the very near future.  Etc …. - We have a local Nashville lineman that is on the rise with college coaches and could soon break out with Power Five offers. 2022 MBA (TN) OT/G Grayson Morgan Grayson Morgan 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL MBA | 2022 State TN has burst onto the scene over the last few weeks as a recruit to know and just last week added offers from Arkansas St. and Western Ky.  Morgan sports nice size (6'5 265) along with a frame that can take on added weight and be molded into the guy needed up front. He is a good athlete that could very well stay outside at tackle in the college game. The Big Red lineman is most definitely being evaluated by multiple staffs right now and could be in line for a big push of Division 1 offers.  - Brentwood (TN) tight end Aaron Walton Aaron Walton 6'3" | 220 lbs | TE Brentwood | 2022 State TN is currently committed to Samford University for baseball but has the chance to play on the Bulldogs football team, however the Bruins star pass catcher keeps getting looks by Division 1 football schools. Just last week, Walton added an official offer from Memphis and I know several other programs have him on their recruiting board, so the Middle Tennessee native might have to make a decision at some point on what he wants to do athletically in the future.
