About Joe
Expert Analysis
Chris Smith | Prep Redzone Scout
A bigger back with tremendous natural athletic abilities, Williams is a talented young man that can do a variety of things on the football field that college coaches would enjoy developing. Playing this year with Melrose, Williams has stepped into a key role for the Golden Wildcats as a 1-2 punch with a junior at running back while also contributing out wide at receiver. Williams is that kind of talent with natural football abilities running through his veins. His best position for college will be running back but his ability to run routes and catch the ball makes Williams a valuable prospect for the college game. He will need to continue developing his body and learning the game but the talent is certainly there. Put this guy on the field and let his athletic abilities take over but as he matures and grows into himself, I think the best football could be ahead of him, so watch out!

Strong and physically well built, Williams is an athletic runner that has the size and skill set to tote the rock on the collegiate level but is still looking for those opportunities to do so. Ranking 7th among the running backs, Williams is a track guy with outstanding straight line speed, so he can take that ball and find the end zone in a hurry. He can also lower the shoulder and run through contact, providing a nice short yardage back when called upon. Besides being a strong ball carrier, Williams is also a good receiver out of the backfield while sporting the physical size along with the upside to develop as a good pass blocker. The potential is there for Williams to turn into a D1, FCS level running back but he needs to just put it all together and maybe a new scenery at Melrose could be the spark he needs.
