Today, we’ve got 4 recruits who have been great all season and when their team needed them most, made big plays in regionals to help advance to Semi-State.
Noah Ehrlich Noah Ehrlich 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Crown Point | 2025 State IN – Crown Point – QB – 6’2″ 195lbs – 2025
Ehrlich bet on himself this year, and it seems like it may have been the right move. After 2 years of starting for Hobart, he transferred to Crown Point, and to say he’s fit in isn’t doing him justice. He’s been the perfect leader for that offense this year and is a big reason why they sit at 12-0 right now. 2 years ago, this offense put up 226 points. With Ehrlich this season, 455 points. Almost double the points, but a lot of it is having a QB take the smart throw. Ehrlich has no issue taking the check down. He’ll hit the open guy and run the offense. He doesn’t try to get too cute and do too much. A perfect example of this was his 67-yard TD against Lake Central. He navigated the pocket nicely, stepped up, and threw a dime that hit his WR in stride. Last Friday, Ehrlich went 11-17 for 221 yards and 2 TDs, and they got the win 34-33. The week before that he went 9-9 for 193 yards and 4 TDs in the first half only. He’s efficient and is fairly accurate so he can place balls for his WRs downfield. His back-shoulder accuracy is where he’s best, which is why he’s been so hard to stop. He doesn’t make many bad reads giving the defense a chance, and then his accuracy is up there with some of the best. The last thing I want to mention about Ehrlich is his ability to extend plays with his legs and pick up first downs. While he’s best in the pocket, he knows when to pull the ball. Ehrlich has been clutch and just what the Dr ordered for Crown Point. His potential remains pretty high and should be a fantastic QB to target for schools who want a guy with all the boxes checked.

Hunter Meredith Hunter Meredith 5'10" | 190 lbs | ATH Heritage | 2025 State IN – Heritage Hills – RB/LB – 6’0″ 190lbs – 2025
Meredith has turned into an incredibly valuable 2-way player for Heritage Hills this year and seems to be only getting better. He’s a sound athlete with a good frame to build upon. He absorbs hits and doesn’t have an issue with contact in between the tackles. In fact, there are times he invites it. 1000 yards on the ground with 15 TDs, 245 yards, and 3 TDs through the air is where he stands offensively to this point. Add in his 70 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 5 passes deflected this year on defense, and you can see why he’s made such an impact. Last year, Heritage had a 7-5 season. This year, they’re 12-1 and firing on all cylinders. Their defense has given up almost 75 fewer total points this year than they did last year, in 1 less game. 1 has to think the impact Meredith has had is a big reason why. He’s energetic. He’s got a good feel for what he’s supposed to do on the field and doesn’t second-guess himself anymore. Most importantly, the coaching staff and guys around him trust him. Meredith has earned a ton of respect this year on my end and looks to be the real deal.

Sean DeLong Sean DeLong 5'9" | 180 lbs | WR Gibson Southern | 2024 State IN – Gibson Southern – ATH – 5’9″ 180lbs – 2024
DeLong is going to leave Gibson Southern putting up over 4000 scrimmage yards in his career, producing all 4 years, being a key component of their offense since he was a freshman, and yet he continues to light up Fridays without the big spotlight. With DeLong, it’s his versatility and instincts. Yes, he’s quick, shifty, and has good hands so he’s able to come out of the backfield, but he’s just got fantastic football IQ and instincts. It’s not a coincidence he’s always in the right spot. Having an RB who can be moved around like a WR at the HS level helps an offense in so many areas, which is 1 reason why they continue to roll. DeLong was on the receiving end of his 16th career TD on Friday. 47 career TDs and came through in Regionals, as he does every year it seems. The big knock on DeLong in his recruiting game has always been his height. In my opinion, it shouldn’t be an issue because, he’s built out his frame a bit better than I thought he’d be able to by his Senior year, yet didn’t lose any of his speed or wiggle. He continues to produce and help them win big games. I’m a big fan of DeLong, always have been, and really hope someone takes the shot on him because he can play at a very high level.

Sam Feeney Sam Feeney 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Bishop Chatard | 2024 State IN – Bishop Chatard – ATH – 6’2″ 205lbs – 2024
Feeney is a recruit I found last year who I will continue to pound the table for. He came on later in his career, but since the light clicked for him, he’s been one of the most disruptive defensive players in the state. His athletiscm is awesome and he can fly all over the field. He’s well built and can make big impact hits as well as flip his hips and run. I like the timing Feeney has at the snap and does a good job using his strengths when attacking the LOS. He’s able to get off blocks without much of an issue, so much so to the point he’s faced quite a few double teams this year. However, he’s still put up 55 tackles, 11 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 2 hurries on the year. Well, that was before this past Friday when Feeney had one of the game’s biggest plays. A fumble recovery that he was able to pick up and run back for 6. Along with that, a handful of tackles and suffocating an offense that had been hard to stop all year. They didn’t allow a single point, and the pressure Feeney helped create was a big reason why. Great players play their best ball when it matters most, and that’s been Feeney again this year.
