Grand Ledge Vs Dewitt Prospect Report

Grand Ledge and Dewitt engaged inn An absolute battle on Friday under windy cool skies. Grand Ledge was able to hold off a late Panthers charge and move to 8-0 on the season. Let's take a look at a few players who shined Friday night.

Kingston did a lot of good things on Friday night and made plays with his legs and his arm in there victory over Dewitt. I was impressed with Kingstons poise as he stood in on many plays and delivered the football while taking a shot. Kingston displayed a lot of toughness and moved the pocket to keep the Panther defense off balance all night. Kingston made a lot of throws that were not easy to make and displayed a big arm as he zipped the ball into his receivers all night. Kingston also made multiple plays in short yard situations to move the chains and keep drives alive for the comets. Kingston is a leader at Quarterback and commands a huddle with the best of them. Watch out for the comets as the regular season comes to an end expect to see Kingstons number called often as he will be the engine that drives the train into the playoffs.

Coleman was a monster on Friday night from his tightend position and made a few unreal plays for the comets. The first thing that stood out was how well Coleman understands his assignments and blocked as hard as any player I have seen. On multiple short yardage plays the comets went off tackle to his side and he delivered a few tough blocks to help move the chains. But what really popped was Colemans ability to catch the rock. Coleman made a few massive plays including a deep throw late in the game which he climbed the ladder and made a catch right on a defenders head. Coleman runs good routes and has excellent speed for a tightend and was a complete mismatch on the field. Coleman is a monster and a player that colleges should prioritize on the recruiting trail.

Anthony is an imposing presence when he steps on the filed and he made some massive plays that helped seal the game for the comets. The senior running back has very good vision and runs with excellent power. Anthony had a few plays that it was one on one in the hole for a yard and Anthony would not be denied. Anthony also has some wiggle to his game and can make you miss out on the perimeter. Anthony also has very good speed and took a play of left tackle bounced the ball outside and kept his balance as he tight roped the side line to house the football to seal the game for Grand ledge. I had heard a lot about Anthony heading into Friday night and he was as good as advertised.

Despite the loss on Friday night I came away impressed with Griffin and his competitiveness on the field for Dewitt. Being down there top running back and having his back against the wall Griffin battled and showed toughness and grit from his QB position for the panthers. Griffin has a very lively arm and made a few excellent throws as he rolled out to his right. Griffin also stood tall in the pocket and made some nice anticipation throws against a solid defense. Griffin also was not afraid to drop a shoulder and pick up yards when his number was called in the run game. Overall I like Griffin and the abilities he displays from his QB spot. Whether it's running the ball or throwing it he has plus ability and a player you can win with.

Ashton was an absolute menace for the comets in there big win. Ashton lined up at fullback and linebacker and was extremely effective from both spots. On offense Ashton blasted his way between the tackles and moved the chains all night long for Grand Ledge. Late in the game with the game still in the balance Ashton was hit at the line of scrimmage on 4th and 1 but instead of trying to force things Ashton reversed course and shot out the back side showing good speed and vision to pick up the needed yardage and move the chains. Ashton was a load to bring down and dragged defenders all over the field all night long. Defensively Ashton patrolled the middle of the defense and stuffed the Dewitt rushing attack all night. Ashton played downhill and knocked panthers around all night as he racked up a handful of tackles. Ashton is the definition of a throw back football player and is a kid any college would be lucky enough to have in there locker room.
