Breakout Names Through 6 Weeks

Over the first few weeks of the season, there are plenty of names I have learned and a ton of talent I have discovered both in my travels and via social media. Below are a few that have broken out and made a name for themselves through the first half of the regular season. Dylan is developing into an extremely well-rounded defensive back with an impressive skill set. As a sophomore, he is willing and able to come up and play physical in the run game. No hesitation from him when he steps into the box to stop the run. On the back end, his instincts and reaction time is impressive. His closing speed is far ahead of most in his class. He flips his hips and has no problem running with receivers vertically with little to no separation. His combination of speed, physicality and instincts gives Dylan an incredibly high ceiling going forward. Ca'Mari is a dynamic playmaker and has proven to be one of those guys you just want on the field at all times. Whether it's offensively or defensively, he makes things happen. As a ball carrier, he has great running instincts, makes clean and decisive cuts and has track speed. Once he's in the open field, he is nearly impossible to corral. Defensively, he is an instinctual DB that reads the QB and jumps routes for interceptions and PBUs consistently. Reese is one of the top under the radar athletes in the state of Michigan, but he absolutely deserves the attention! Payton is another all-around athlete in West Michigan who has been getting it done no matter where he lines up. His versatility has seen him impact special teams, as well as giving defenses fits and defensively, he shows high effort and has proven he is a great tackler out in space. As a wideout, he is a shifty athlete in space with great hands that allows him to haul in contested balls and get extra yards after the catch. His versatility continues to add value and make him all the more desirable on the recruiting trail. Maurice is a high energy DB with a nose for the football. His football IQ, range and elite closing speed makes him liable to jump passing lanes and come up with interceptions or PBUs. He has great anticipation and is so speedy, it's hard to beat him. He flies around the field and can erase space from sideline to sideline. Whether he is breaking on a ball underneath or running stride for stride down the field, Shemwell stays around the football. He has all of the tools that teams are looking for at the next level, no question. We have known about Tailor for a bit, but boy is he shining so far this fall. Back in the winter, we watched this defensive lineman run routes like a tight end, beat linebackers with legit speed and come down with some outstanding catches. That athleticism has translated to the DL position as well, allowing him to beat offensive linemen with his speed and agility, as well as his raw power. High effort with a huge motor and a knack for making the "wow" plays, you won't find many defensive linemen with these kinds of traits just anywhere.
