My commitment was rewarded with a competitive contest highlighted by defense.

Here's a closer look at student-athletes that stood out during the game:

It seemed whenever the Southeast Polk defense was on the field against Liberty in Week 2 of the 2026 season, Chebuhar was in the middle of the action. I hadn't watched the Ram senior in action live in a few years, and the progress was obvious. Chebuhar is a handful as a long, athletic defender. He's a legit 6-foot-3, 235 pounds with straight-line speed and lateral quickness. There's strength to contend with blockers on this level and a projectable frame to help handle bigger opponents on the next level. Chebuhar operates with a good tempo and gets downhill in a hurry. His hands are active and violent. I think there are plenty of colleges out there that need to acquaint themselves with Chebuhar, who could develop into a impact player at linebacker or coming off of the edge.

Reiners has impressed me during previous live scouting opportunities. It was good to get an early look at him during the 2026 campaign, when Liberty took on Southeast Polk in Week 2 of the season. While the Rams won the game and made life difficult on a usually high-flying Lightning offense, Reiners found ways to keep the chains moving. The senior fits the mold of past skill players in the program that bring a versatile set of talents to the field. Reiners can take a handoff or a short pass and make defenders miss in space. The senior also runs crisp routes and can haul in passes on different levels of the defense. He shows excellent burst and quick-twitch traits that also would make him a success on the other side of the ball. Reiners is student-athlete that would enhance plenty of rosters on the next level.

Yankoon was still developing as a young player the last time I watched Southeast Polk play in person during its 2024 state championship run. The Rams were stacked on the D-Line in winning their fourth Class 5A title in a row. They've reloaded up front with players like Yankoon, who impressed me when I watched the matchup with Liberty in Week 2 of the 2026 season. Yankoon is a tough matchup on the interior with a low center of gravity, good pad level and power to push through the punch. The junior operates with a fast motor and strong hands. He's also athletic and agile with a frame capable of filling out without the loss of the explosiveness and fast feet that aid him in succeeding.

Mohr started at left tackle last season when Liberty marched to the Class 5A state title game. He impressed with his ranginess, agility and fluid movement during multiple in-person scouting opportunities. Mohr improved significantly from the start of 2025 to the games in The Dome. Most of it showed up in technique and physicality. It was good to see him again to start 2026, when the Lightning played host to Southeast Polk in Week 2. He looked to have continued filling out his projectable 6-foot-4 frame, sharpening his skills and becoming more physical. Mohr is a really good high school player with plenty of upside. That should be attracting more attention along the recruiting trail.

I had a chance to catch White line up at Liberty early in the 2026 season. The senior held it down at left offensive tackle against a formidable Lightning defense, which stands out most for its speed. While White distinguishes himself for his power and physicality, he handled the quick Liberty attack very well. Smooth footwork and active hands help in setting up against the pass rush, and, again there's a big time push in the rushing attack. White is a good athlete that can pick off defenders in space, too. While he could keep developing as a tackle, his athleticism would play up with a flip inside.
