Nate's Big Dogs of the Week: SD Running Backs, Week 4

We took a good look at the running backs that made significant noise across the Mount Rushmore State as these six were difference makers last Friday night across the 605. Every class is represented from 2027 down to 2030s just getting onto our radar as we look as hidden gems, top athletes and running backs in their classes and more.    11 carries, 111 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns   Aiden went for 10 yards per carry along with three touchodwns for Elk Point-Jefferson in their 42-7 win at home versus Dakota Valley last week. The outside speed that Aiden produces along the outside edges, is a good reason why he's our #1 ranked athlete in the 2028 class as he can create splash plays with his well-rounded burst. I feel like that speed has accelerated from a season ago as especially on his first touchdown run, the defensive unit was limited on catching him once he gets to the edges of the field. There is also elusive movement between tacklers that you can quickly see from Aiden the deeper he gets into his game which points why the position flexibility at the next-level is going to be key, but specifically translates as a wide receiver at the next-level due to his size.     18 carries, 87 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns   Trey is a 2029 running back that has already created a few splash games for the Chargers especially last week against ranked West Central, which Trey and company were able to pitch 28-0 shutout on. I like the straight-line vision that Trey has running downhill in the inside box, as the 6'0 175 pounder has more durable traits than you might expect coming from just a sophomore. I also am intrigued on how his burst amps up when he gets to the second level, as you see a fuller scope of the fluidity he brings with the ball in his hands. Surely a 2029 running back that will be on our rankings here in no time.       4 carries, 148 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns   A new name to our 2027 South Dakota radar last week is Mitchell running back Samari Wright. Explosive is an understatement when you look at that stat line as the Kernels beat Douglas at home 69-0. The 6'2 185 pounder doesn't have any tape out yet, but has been the bellcow for the Kernels rushing attack in their first three games and given their offensive a lot of production on the ground. Samari and the Kernels will look to go 3-1 as they head to Aberdeen this week to take on Aberdeen Central.     21 carries, 272 total yards (251 rush, 21 receiving) 4 touchdowns   The Chamberlain Cubs offense has seen their offensive production skyrocket due to the efforts of 2027 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1320836' first='Austin' last='Rose']. Off to 3-0 start in 11B, Austin has been a big part of the reason for it as he's really amped up his elusiveness with his vision in the inside box seeing short areas of opportunity to get upfield. He was one that was a nightmare to take last week as we see on tape a 2027 running back that has an opportunity to get a great senior eval from local programs in the Dakotas to improve their backfield in the coming years on Saturdays.     8 carries, 157 rushing yards, 4 total touchdowns (2 rush, 1 kickoff return, 1 pick 6) two interceptions   One of our first 2030 standouts that had a monster outing in all three phases of the game for the Burke Cougars is Ryggan Lambley, as him and the Cougars got a big win on the road 63-18 against Sunshine Bible Academy. He's another one from this that is under the radar, as tape cannot be found from that game as of yet, but man you want to talk about a swiss army knife that had one of the biggest weeks for underclassmen in South Dakota, just look at that stat line.     152 total yards (90 rush, 62 receiving) three total touchdowns,, 12 tackles   Our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase running MVP this sprring and our new RB1 in the South Dakota 2029 class [player_tooltip player_id='2162126' first='Zander' last='Zandstra'] of Rapid City St. Thomas More put together yet another game for our #1 ranked team in 11B. Zander has made excellent growth as a route-runner that we saw especially in Week 3 showing off grreat hands in tight windows. Zander is consistent when it comes to utilzing his early twitch to hit the gaps for extra yards and is one that I feel the deeper the Cavaliers get down the field the more determined he becomes on the ground from a vision standpoint. One of the most productive 2029 running backs we've seen thus far in South Dakota this season with good reasoning why he's our RB1 in the state.
