Our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase running MVP this sprring and our new RB1 in the South Dakota 2029 class Zander Zandstra Zander Zandstra 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB/ATH St. Thomas More | 2029 State SD of Rapid City St. Thomas More put together yet another game for our #1 ranked team in 11B. Zander has made excellent growth as a route-runner that we saw especially in Week 3 showing off grreat hands in tight windows. Zander is consistent when it comes to utilzing his early twitch to hit the gaps for extra yards and is one that I feel the deeper the Cavaliers get down the field the more determined he becomes on the ground from a vision standpoint. One of the most productive 2029 running backs we’ve seen thus far in South Dakota this season with good reasoning why he’s our RB1 in the state.

Zander won our RB MVP at the Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase this spring, is he a top-tier RB in the 2029 class? The quick answer to that is yes, as Zander has had impressive showings at camps this summer outside of our showcase which is a great sign. He’ll surely be in one of the top slots for running backs when the rankings come out this week.

-RB MVP

A 2029 running back that we had logged to add to our 2029 South Dakota rankings, but yet had a come out of nowhere type performance at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase belonged to Rapid City St. Thomas More’s Zander Zandstra Zander Zandstra 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB/ATH St. Thomas More | 2029 State SD . He might have been a first-timer at a Prep Redzone Showcase, but he sure didn’t seem like it as Zander rattled off in testing, three categories that placed him in the top six in the entire showcase, and two of those as well placed him in the top three. In the pro agility, he was #2nd overall with a 4.33, 3rd overall in the 40-yard dash (lasered) with a 4.73 which is flying for just a freshmen. and a 7.27 in the L-drill (6th overall). Zander was another running back in this group that I said to watch for on Saturday from a route-running perspective, and surely that came alive in the live eval as I thought he was one of the best route-runner in this group regardless of class. His change of direction on every rep I watched was hard to miss, as coming away with an MVP at an offensive skill position this early is surely something to track over the coming years if I were a college running backs coach.

He might be just a freshmen, but the early looks you get at Rapid City St. Thomas More running back Zander Zandstra Zander Zandstra 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB/ATH St. Thomas More | 2029 State SD show off good upside upcoming. You can tell early that Zander has sound vision for his age and shows developing instincts getting out of the inside box to create space into the open field. He’s also fluid in his lateral movement as a route-runner, as one that can escape around the edges as a red-zone threat. I’ll be intrigued to watch how Zander has developed with his route-running on Saturday from the fall season.
