But we still have several standouts to talk about from the first week of high school football across the state of Oklahoma. In this breakdown, we're putting the spotlight on five different 2027 standouts that kicked off their senior seasons with a bang last week.

[player_tooltip player_id='216547' first='Colton' last='McComb'] - Running Back/Linebacker - Edmond Memorial

Edmond Memorial senior and Kansas State commit [player_tooltip player_id='216547' first='Colton' last='McComb'] was unstoppable on both sides of the ball. They took care of business against Piedmont in week zero. McComb is mostly known for being a hard-hitting linebacker but he was also productive on offense in their week zero victory. He finished with 54 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Along with two catches for 48 yards and a touchdown. But of course, at his core, McComb is still a hard-hitting linebacker. He finished the night with 13 tackles as he remains one of the top tacklers in Class 6A-1. It won't be surprising to see more dominant two-way performances from McComb this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1670662' first='Dane' last='Jensen'] - Linebacker - Pawhuska

Pawhuska opened up their 2026 season with a win and they'll be back in the spotlight this week when they travel to Stroud on Friday night. In that week zero win, senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1670662' first='Dane' last='Jensen'] had one of the better defensive performances from anyone in week zero. He finished the night with ten tackles, with six of those coming behind the line of scrimmage. He also had four sacks on the night. Jensen has routinely been one of the better linebackers in the state over the last few years. He started his senior campaign by picking up exactly where he left off last season. Expect Jensen to be one of Oklahoma's most productive linebackers every week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1659242' first='Darrius' last='Johnson'] - Running Back - Tuttle

Defending 4A champion Tuttle took care of business in week zero, beating Guthrie 42-7. They had several players debut and impress for the irfirst time on Friday nights. Senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1659242' first='Darrius' last='Johnson'] is a newcomer to the Tigers after moving into the program this offseason. He did shined with three touchdowns on the ground and 92 yards on 22 carries. That start is just the tip of the iceberg. Prep Redzone Oklahoma will get our first chance to watch Johnson in person on Thursday night, when Tuttle goes on the road to face Newcastle in week one.

[player_tooltip player_id='1538407' first='Denymn' last='Friday'] - Quarterback - Midwest City

Midwest City quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1538407' first='Denymn' last='Friday'] is the first of two quarterbacks on this breakdown that made a debut with his new team and looked fantastic. Friday has moved around during his high school career, looking for the right fit and he seems to have found it with Midwest City. He's a 2027 prospect who has routinely impressed at our offseason showcases and now he's impressing under the Friday night lights. In their win over El Reno in week zero, Friday threw for just shy of 300 yards and five touchdowns on 15-22 passing. The Bombers could end up surprising this season and there's no doubt that Friday will have his fingerprints all over their success.

[player_tooltip player_id='1307135' first='Noah' last='Smith'] - Quarterback - Lawton

Lawton QB and OU commit [player_tooltip player_id='1307135' first='Noah' last='Smith'] came into this season with a ton of momentum after a terrific offseason. He got on everyone's radar after a spring and summer where he tore it up on the camp circuit. He also moved from Blanchard to Lawton and immediately made the Wolverines a team to watch in Class 5A this season. Smith and the Wolverines kicked things off with a dominant win and near perfection from Smith. He threw for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns on 17-21 passing. He also added 30 yards on the ground. Smith backed up all the preseason hype in week zero and will look to continue that throughout the rest of his senior season.
