Louisiana’s Defensive Stat Leaders (9/29)

The state of Louisiana has plenty of defensive standouts, including these players, who are at the top of different statistical categories.

We begin the article with the same stuff that many have been keeping up with when it comes to the EDGE position. That player is [player_tooltip player_id='2054862' first='Ladarion' last='Banks Jr']., who has become one of the better players in the entire state when it comes to sacks. He has a total of nine sacks this season, which is two full sacks ahead of second place, which is held by Jamyris Allen and JaKerrious Smith. This is one that I believe Banks Jr. will finish at the top of by the end of the season, as he is leading the way with a healthy gap, to say the least.

[player_tooltip player_id='2234602' first='Walker' last='Pugh'] has already been ranked as one of the better players in the entire state and is one of the better players at the linebacker position, which is why he ranks as the No. 4 player at the position when it comes to the class of 2028 in The Boot. Pugh has a total of 66 tackles this season, which means that he is leading the way and is one of the players who could very well be in the conversation for this by the end of the season. Pugh has everything it takes to be a top star, and is proving that he is a feared defender. He leads the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='2234604' first='Bennett' last='Speer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2397491' first='Hayden' last='Bell'].

[player_tooltip player_id='2397487' first='Kaiton' last='Packett'] has shown time and time again that he is as good as it gets when it comes to coverage in the state of Louisiana. He may not be the biggest guy, but his high motor has put him in an undeniable position, as he is now leading the state when it comes to interceptions. In fact, he is the leader with five interceptions. This is something to be proud of, and is something that many should be paying attention to as he continues this season. Five interceptions would be impressive if he finished the season with that, let alone having that midway through the season. He leads the likes of Daniel Mazyck and Ashton Startk.

[player_tooltip player_id='2422382' first='Vincent' last='Blake Jr.'] is the next player to make the list and is a first-time mention here on Prep Redzone. He has become one of the better players at the safety position in the state, as he is leading the state in solo tackles, which goes to show that he doesn't need teammates to make a tackle for him. He continues to show up in a massive way and is on his way to a massive season. I'm unsure if he will finish at the top, but I do anticipate him being near the top throughout the race.

[player_tooltip player_id='409932' first='Hayden' last='Monroe'] is the next player on the list. He is someone who has quickly become a top player in the state and is now the leader in the state for QB hurries. He leads the state with 8 and is tied with a handful of athletes, but none of those athletes have the sack total that Monroe has. Monroe is one of my favorite athletes in the state due to the fact that he is violent off the EDGE, and is someone who can disrupt a game on a multi-play basis. I believe he could eventually find himself at the top of the sack leaderboard as well.
