First 3 Games Underclassmen Offensive Line Film Spotlight

The first three weeks of the season give us a good look at which players are making an early impact and putting themselves on the recruiting radar. For seniors especially, this stretch of film is essential, as college coaches evaluate current-season tape to see how prospects perform against live competition and whether their game translates to the next level. This spotlight takes a closer look at players with film from their first three games that colleges need to check out.    OL/DL David Browning continues to show why he's a top lineman prospect in the 2028 class, making an impact on both sides of the line for Chapmanville through the first three games. He's flashed impressive athleticism as a pulling tackle, where his quickness and agility allow him to play in space. Browning has good play strength at the point of attack and does a great job keeping his feet moving, creating displacement and sustaining blocks through the whistle. He also plays with an edge and looks to finish every rep. Browning's versatility and two-way upside make him an intriguing underclassman to watch.      Brody Faircloth has been another big transfer addition to the Martinsburg offensive line this season, taking over at center after making the move from Hedgesville. The 2028 OL brings a big, physical presence to the middle of the Bulldogs' front, with his upper-body strength standing out on film as he continues developing his lower half. Faircloth has done a nice job in the running game, delivering a strong punch and consistently moving his man off the ball. He's at his best in 1-on-1 blocks, where he can get attached and stay connected through the rep. Faircloth is a promising 2028 prospect to watch as he continues developing at his new home.      2028 Independence OL Peyton Wade has settled in well after transferring to Independence, giving the Patriots another talented player up front. He's only played two games after Independence had last week off, but those games provided a great opportunity to see how he matches up against top out-of-state talent from Ambassador Christian (NC) and Armstrong (PA). Wade is a technically sound lineman with good coordination between his upper and lower halves. He has more of a guard body type, but his athleticism gives Independence the flexibility to play him at tackle, where he's shown good footwork in pass protection. Wade strikes well in both the passing and running game and has the quickness to get into a good position and execute consistently. If he maintains this level of play, this could be another stock-rising season for Wade.      Ben Fitzwater has continued to improve year over year for Woodrow Wilson and is playing the best football of his career through the first three games. The 2028 OL's physical style fits perfectly in the Flying Eagles' Wing-T scheme, and he's been a key part of their success running the football. Fitzwater consistently generates movement at the point of attack and does a good job driving defenders off the line, creating running lanes for the backs behind him. His athletic development has also been a big boost, giving him the quickness needed to execute the different blocks required in Woodrow Wilson's scheme. Fitzwater has been playing some good football early this season and continues to show steady development as a player.      Sissonville has revitalized its program over the last two years, and the Indians' 3-0 start has been fueled largely by the work they're getting up front. 2028 OL Sam Dyer has taken another step forward as a junior and looks much bigger on film at his new listed size of 6'0 310. That added mass has translated into more power and play strength, while Dyer has also been trusted to protect the blind side at left tackle despite projecting as a guard at the next level. Sissonville's passing game has been highly productive through three weeks, and Dyer has done a good job in protection. He's a big, strong lineman to know in the 2028 class who deserves more attention as the season moves forward.      Isaac Workman has been a key part of Elkins' strong start up front through the first three games and continues to show why he's an under-the-radar name in the 2028 class. The 2028 OL is an excellent fit at guard in the Tigers' Wing-T attack, using his athleticism to pull and lead the way for the running game. Workman does a great job getting out in front of the play and finding work downfield, with his effort through the whistle standing out on film. His ability to move in space and block on the move adds another dimension to Elkins' rushing attack, and he's continued to play with that same high motor through the first three weeks. Workman is a fun lineman to watch who has made a strong early impression as a junior.      Frankfort's Knox Kimble has continued to set the tone up front for the Falcons through the first three games, and has the physicality and attitude you want from a player in the middle of a Wing-T offense. The 2028 OL/DL has been a veteran presence at center for the back-to-back state champions. Kimble uses his quickness and agility to execute blocks at a high level within their scheme. He plays with a nasty streak and impressive physicality, consistently looking to create movement and finish his blocks. He's also a versatile athlete who contributes in all three phases as a valuable player for the program.      2028 OL Kalvin McBride has worked hard to earn a starting opportunity as a junior for Jefferson, and he's flashed through the first three games. McBride has always had the size, but the development in his technique and athleticism since we first saw him as a raw freshman is easy to see on film. He's still far from a finished product, but his footwork and agility have taken a significant step forward and have allowed him to split time at both guard and tackle. McBride is moving much better than he did earlier in his career and is starting to put his physical tools together. He's a name to keep tabs on as he continues to develop over the next couple of seasons.      2029 Princeton OL Aiden Robinson has stepped into the varsity center role as expected this season and has transitioned well after showing a lot of promise as a freshman. The Tigers' coaching staff have been high on him since he first arrived at the high school level, and it's easy to see why through the first three games. They had to replace a lot of experience up front from last year's title team, but Robinson has helped keep the line from missing a beat with his maturity and approach. He's a smart young player with a high football IQ, and his understanding of the game is matched with a high motor. Robinson enjoys the physical side of the game and consistently plays through the whistle, making him a great young building block for Princeton to develop around moving forward.      Moorefield has been making some noise early this season after a few down years, and the play up front has been at the forefront of that success through the first three games. 2029 OL/DL Gage Baker sets the tone up front on both sides of the line and is playing well as a sophomore. He's very strong for his age, but he also has the athleticism to execute the Yellow Jackets' Wing-T blocks at a high level. Baker has always had an obvious nasty streak to his game, something that showed up as a freshman, and being another year bigger and stronger has taken his physicality to another level. He's a young building block up front for Moorefield and a name to know in their talented 2029 class.      Starting on varsity as a sophomore is a rare opportunity at Huntington, but 2029 OL Xavier Smailes showed the potential on JV last season to make that jump for the Highlanders this season. He's stepped into a starting role after losing several key linemen to graduation, and Smailes has answered the call through the first three games. He's added the needed size during the offseason, which has helped prepare him for the physical demands of varsity football. Smailes already has good physicality for his age, and his quickness and agility allow him to move fluidly and consistently reach his spots. He's developing into another offensive lineman to know at a Huntington program that has a strong track record of producing top talent up front.      Jordan Hayes is a new name on our radar this season and has been impressive early on for Cabell Midland. The 2029 OL has stepped into the starting role at right tackle and is showing promising traits that point to a high-upside future. Hayes is still physically maturing, but his athleticism immediately stands out, especially in the way he fires out of his stance and how quickly he strikes his man. He plays with a high motor and high physicality through the whistle, battling hard throughout each rep. That gives him a strong base to continue building on, and Hayes is a young lineman who could develop into a future star for the Knights.      If you want an early look at one of the top offensive linemen in the 2030 class, Garett Moon is the name to start with. The young OL has already earned a varsity starting job at center as a freshman for Parkersburg South and has handled himself well against older competition through the first three games. Moon came into high school with experience in a top youth program and has grown up around the game as a coach's son that gives him a strong foundation for this opportunity. He's highly physical for his age, understands the game well, and already plays with a level of technical soundness that stands out in a young lineman.
