Week 2 Noteworthy Prospects

Against a tough Mater Dei team, he was a force on defense and made plays all evening. He was explosive off the line, showed good instincts and did a good job of shedding his blocks and pursuing the ball carrier. He is quick off the line, moves exceptionally well laterally, and has good closing speed and burst. He disengages from his blocks with ease, and he is a backer who shows good instincts and has excellent tackling form. He should be a huge late riser and see interest in recruiting once his tape gets out. He's an athlete who is a fluid mover with good quickness and hip fluidity. He showed his good hands as a receiver, where he broke a couple of big plays. He has strong hands and has clean footwork. He isn't afraid to get physical and showed his coverage skills on the defensive side of the ball as well. He made his mark on the defensive side by disrupting up the middle, limiting big runs and helped bring pressure to the opposing signal caller. Mason showed good physicality and lateral quickness and displays good, violent hands on that side of the ball. On the offensive side, as a lineman, he was exceptional and created many openings in the run game and did a good job of keeping pass rushers in front of him.
