Grandville showed as much resilience, fight and grit as you could ask a team to come away with a massive week 1 victory on the road at Muskegon. Below are just a few of the top performers from the Bulldogs on Friday night!

I was extremely impressed with the heart Alex had on Friday night. Even after some early mistakes and some big hits, he kept popping back up and making plays for his team.

He's a hard runner that has no issue pushing through contact, and keeping his legs churning to fight for the extra yards. As a thrower, he was what you'd expect out of a run-first offenses QB, but when his team needed it, he led an impressive drive down the field to score. I absolutely love what I saw from him and what he brings to this Grandville offense.

Jackson is almost the prototype for what a T offense is looking for in their TE. He's 6'6 with broad shoulders, has a strong lower half and can pop out and make big catches against smaller defenders for big first downs or inside the goal line.

He's a nasty blocker as well, and with his length and frame, defenders have a hard time wiggling free to go make the play. He has a good punch off the ball, and is able to use his reach to his advantage. Between the frame, the run blocking and nice flashes in the passing game, Dood has real upside at the next level.

Gavin is one of the most elusive backs in West Michigan. I knew a bit about him heading into Friday night's game, but what I saw put it in perspective quite a bit more.

First of all, this kid hits the hole at full speed. He easily ran through arm tackles at the line with ease, which allowed him to hit the open field at full speed. Even when he was 1 on 1 in the hole with a defender, he was able to make one cut and outrun the defense. His vision was exceptional, especially when blocking breaks down and he has to improvise. Perfect fit in this offense and will absolutely help Grandville win games this fall.

Jayce was another back that had a really impressive showing on Friday. What he did on the ground was certainly impressive with good contact balance and speed, his hands were really the difference maker in this one.

A couple of different times, Jayce was the go-to man on a pass, and he made the most of it. The one in the first half was just a wheel out of the backfield, and he was able to turn on the jets to take it the distance.

Late in the 4th, he ran a similar route and his QB was able to find him deeper downfield, setting the Grandville defense up to eventually get the points necessary to get to OT, and eventually win the game. His reliable hands and solid route running was an ultimate difference maker on Friday, and showed off his versatility.

I was really impressed with Reese and his physicality on the line. He had no problem firing off the line and using good technique to get in the backfield and cause issues. He has really good reach, and plays with good technique.

I watched him on a few reps in a row, and he threw a number of moves at the tackle, who was really good in his own right, but Reese was able to get the better of him with his speed and bend. Beyond that, he was also relentless to the football and rallied to make some gang tackles and ensure Muskegon got no extra yardage.

This performance definitely put Reese on my radar going forward.
