A physically-gifted defender who can be tough to block due to his length and burst off the snap, Jones plays hard and knows how to chase down the ball-carrier. He made a major impact as a sophomore last season and showed that he's capable of playing at the Power Four level. The 6-foot-3 215-pounder could see plenty of major offers come his way, along with another bump in the rankings, with a strong junior season in 2026.

A South Georgia defender from Thomson, Georgia, Hogan is a sure-tackling defender with good size and strong instincts against the run. The 6-foot-1 200-pounder is one of the region's top returning linebackers who consistently does his job. He has a nose for the football with enough toughness to bring down hard-running ball-carriers in the Augusta area. Hogan is coming off a productive sophomore season where he made 63 tackles while helping on special teams. He's one of the top 2028 linebackers in the area who showed plenty of promise last fall. Look for Hogan to have a possible "breakout" junior season in 2026.

A Cobb County EDGE defender who saw his recruitment really pick up this spring, Vayens is a pass-rusher on the rise at North Cobb who brings plenty of size and Power Four talent at 6-foot-3 225-pounds. A max-effort defender who can chase down the ball-carrier, Vayens is one of the top pass-rushers in the region for the upcoming season due to his length, burst, and ability to play multiple positions. The Acworth, Georgia native can attack the quarterback standing up on the edge or on the interior with his hand in the ground. Vayens was easy to add to the latest rankings update and is coming off a strong sophomore season for the Warriors where he made 32 tackles, nine TFLs and three sacks.

A playmaking defensive back down in Camden County, Coleman is a rangy safety with ball skills and physicality. Just a sophomore last season, Coleman's frame may not have turned heads, but his play in the secondary did. Coleman was added to the latest rankings update after showing strong cover skills, picking off one passes, while showing he's dependable in the run game, securing 61 tackles. He's one of the region's top returning defenders in the 2028 class who could push for All-Region status as a junior. He's a safety on the rise to keep a close eye on this fall.

A Savannah-area defensive back to deserves more attention, Jenkins is a playmaking safety with a natural feel for the position. He's quick, twitchy, and knows how to separate the ball from opposing receivers. Now ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 27 DB prospect, Jenkins plays hard and is one of the top returning safeties in the region. As a sophomore in 2025, the Effingham County standout may not have lit up the stat sheet, but he was an effective and impactful defender in the secondary who made things tough for quarterbacks all season long. Look for Jenkins to have a terrific junior season in 2026.
