Las Vegas Week 1 Top Performers

Week 1 of the Las Vegas high school football season delivered big-time performances, rivalry wins, and statement games on both the local and national stage. Several of Southern Nevada's top players wasted no time showing why they are names to know this season. From dominant rushing performances to quarterbacks lighting up the scoreboard and defenders taking over games, the opening week had plenty of standout moments. Some established prospects lived up to the hype, while others used Week 1 as an opportunity to put themselves firmly on the recruiting radar. Here are five of the top performers from an action-packed opening weekend in Las Vegas.    Jermaine Wilson put together one of the best individual performances in Las Vegas, leading Sloan Canyon to a 28-21 victory over McQueen in a rematch of the 2025 4A State Championship. Wilson was nearly impossible to slow down, rushing for 228 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries against a talented McQueen defense. His elite burst allowed him to hit running lanes quickly and turn small openings into explosive gains. Wilson also displayed impressive strength and contact balance, consistently running through contact and picking up additional yards. This was a statement Week 1 performance that showed Wilson has the tools to be one of Southern Nevada's most productive running backs this season.     Ace Amina stepped onto one of the biggest stages in high school football and showed that he is ready to lead Bishop Gorman as QB1. Facing No. 1 St. John Bosco in a nationally televised matchup, Amina threw for 227 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions while leading the Gaels to a 38-28 victory. He played with impressive poise and executed the offense with precision despite facing one of the most talented defenses in the country. Amina showed accuracy, confidence, and the ability to deliver in critical situations without putting the football in danger. His Week 1 performance was a major statement and further established the 2028 prospect as one of the premier young quarterbacks in the country.     Braylon Ivory had a national coming-out party against St. John Bosco and made his presence felt throughout the game. The 2029 defensive end exploded for three sacks and added a blocked punt in Bishop Gorman's huge 38-28 victory. Ivory's combination of elite speed and length makes him extremely difficult for offensive tackles to handle off the edge. He consistently created pressure and showed the ability to impact the game in multiple ways against national-level competition. Once considered an underrated young prospect, Ivory is quickly emerging as one of the premier defensive players to know in the Class of 2029.     Ky-Mani Blas-Barlow delivered a dominant defensive performance as Faith Lutheran pulled out a thrilling 28-27 victory over Bakersfield Christian. The 2028 linebacker was all over the field, finishing with 11 tackles and two sacks in the one-point win. Blas-Barlow showed excellent pursuit ability, physicality, and the closing speed to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. His ability to find the football and finish tackles allowed him to consistently disrupt the Bakersfield Christian offense. Performances like this continue to show why Blas-Barlow has the tools to develop into a legitimate Division I linebacker prospect.     Ryder Dobbs opened the season with a huge performance, leading Foothill to a dominant 42-8 rivalry victory over Basic. The 6'4" quarterback completed 13 of 18 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns in an extremely efficient outing. Dobbs showed the arm talent to attack defenses downfield while consistently putting the football in position for his playmakers to make plays. His combination of size, production, and passing ability gives him an intriguing skill set at the quarterback position. Dobbs continues to show that he has the physical tools and upside to develop into a legitimate Division I quarterback prospect.
