Items of note before our new 2028 class is reveiled

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A look below at a few additions to this Virginia 2028 class including a recent reclass that has shaken up our top ten. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where does Khalid Rainier land after reclassifying</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Trinity Episcopal's Khalid Rainier who has been ranked in our top 3 for the 2027 class recently announced he would be reclassifying. Since I took over the rankings a little over a year ago he has remained one of our top ranked prospects. Reclassifying himself gives him more opportunities for Power 4 schools to recognize his abilities. Rainier is an elite corner who you can leave on an island and he can run with anyone. He can also play in the slot or at strong safety, you will be seeing him playing in the Big Ten or SEC give it time. Where he ends up in our 2028 class remains to be seen this is a loaded class and he is a star.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>There were a lot of transfers this off-season does that impact their rankings?</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Long answer is no, we base our rankings on a number of criteria's, transferring is not one of them. While it can help a kid get more notice from colleges, it can also increase their chances of playing time depending on the situation as well. For example [player_tooltip player_id='1637628' first='Antonio' last='Guillen'] has transferred to Brooke Point where if he earns the starting job this would lead to a major rankings boost. It is quite remarkable what both institutions have been able to accomplish in such a short time frame.
