Overton's defense started out strong with a pick on the 1st play and then forced a fumble on the 2nd drive for the Burros but it both cases they were unable to capitalize. The Hillsboro offense struggled early to get things going but in the 2nd quarter had some key explosive plays from their pass game. The momentum changing play was on 4th down with less than 20 seconds left in the half Cameron Counts hit Joedon Bradley for a TD, which gave the Burros a 12-0 going into the half. The 2-score lead helped open up the run game in the 2nd half, Brandinn Smith, [player_tooltip player_id='906622' first='Thomas' last='Bell'] and Roman Counts all key runs in the 2nd half to help put the game away.

The 5'9 220lb RB for the Burros, had some real physical runs in Week 2, coming off the heels of big game in Week 1 where he had a 70yd run that helped setup the winning score against Kenwood. Smith was part of a running attack that included, [player_tooltip player_id='906622' first='Thomas' last='Bell'] and Roman Counts. Smith has good footwork for his frame and doesn't take a lot of wasted steps when he gets the ball. Smith really turned it in the 4th with multiple 3rd down runs and a TD that sealed it. Based on the 1st 2 weeks Smith could be heading for a 1,000 yd season some colleges should notice.

1-2-3 Burro skill players

#1 Dondre Endsley, #2 Joedon Bradley and #3 Montrell Leggs all made plays in the Burro passing game, Bradley had the best game of the bunch with 5 catches and had several eye-popping moves after the catch. Endsley is a bit undersized but can absolutely fly, you can use on jet sweeps and out of the backfield and could be a factor in the return game. Leggs has decent size and has real deep threat ability as well. The pass game will be key going forward will be key for the Burros offense, if these 3 guys can make plays this offense should improve over the rest of the season.

Hillsboro defensive lineman:

Eric Thompson lead a group that caused havoc all night, especially in the pass game. Thompspn constantly beat his man in 1 on 1 matchups, with a couple of TFL's and a sack. Jakarie Conwell pushed the pile most of the night and forced double teams to set up plays for other Burro defenders.

Overton's improving defense:

Despite the final score, the Overton defense had themselves a solid day, 4 sacks and 4 forced turnovers usually will keep up in most ball games. Senior captain Ja'Darius Rawls had a pick on the 1st play from scrimmage and then the Hillsboro offense stayed away from him for most of the game. Rawls showed his ball skills on offense with a couple of nice catches on offense. The Overton defense will have to hold down the fort, while their offense finds their footing.
