Cardinal Gibbons Vs. McArthur: Standout Players

One of the best games of the 2026 season in South Florida may have already taken place in week two. Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (3-0) hosted Hollywood McArthur (1-2) in a battle of Broward County programs. The home team came out on top with a 47-41 triple-overtime victory.   Here are some of the top players from the game    The workhorse running back carried his team to victory in week two of the 2026 season. The senior scored five touchdowns, including three in overtime, one of which was the game-winner to keep his team with an unblemished record.   Findeson keeps his legs churning and is tough to bring down after contact. He is an effective runner who consistently gains good yardage between the tackles and has the speed to get outside for big gains. The tough back will have much to do with how far his team goes this season.     The Gibbons receiver gave his team a chance to win, making big plays in a triple OT win over McArthur. He scored Gibbons' first touchdown and had a key score in the second half to give his team its first lead of the game.   Watkins is a top-tier route runner and catches most footballs coming his direction. He could develop into an elite playmaker     The Gibbons athlete played both ways at a high level. Norwood made plays on offense at the wide receiver position to move the chains and made plays on the defensive side at defensive back.   He is a playmaking football player who can be vital to victories at the high school level, but needs to gain size to be a playmaker at the college level. High-potential athlete.     The playmaking two-way athlete made his presence felt on both sides of the football. On defense, he was a hard-hitting presence, and on offense, he was a playmaker with the football.   Gourdine scored the Mustangs' second touchdown of the game and was a threat in the return game as well, returning a kick for about 50 yards. He uses his strength to eliminate pass-catchers from plays and break tackles from defenders.   The Miami commit is a high-caliber football player who will be a force on the next level.     The Miami commit was yet another two-way athlete on the field Friday night in Fort Lauderdale. DeRoche did not get many touches in this game but made an impact. He nearly scored on a short pass, nearly took it the distance, and often served as a decoy to get his teammates open.   He has seemed to improve as a blocker as well, moving his feet well and driving his opponents backward. DeRoche was also solid as an edge, putting pressure on the quarterback and batting down a pass at the line.     The crafty route-runner knows how to get open and is a threat to score with the ball in his hands. He converted a critical fourth down where he pivoted to avoid a tackle and took it to the end zone to tie the game at 28.   He scored earlier in the second half as his quarterback found him in the back of the end zone. Young had high potential but needs to build more mass and create separation more consistently to be an All-American on the next level.
