After back-to-back seasons missing the playoffs and not fulfilling the expectations that are held for the Anadarko football program, the Warriors were looking to get back to their winning ways in 2025. They did just that opening the season on a four-game win streak including a district opening 63-0 win over Star Spencer. The Warriors suffered a road loss to Heritage Hall but strung a pair victories together over Purcell and a road Thursday contest at Pauls Valley. Anadarko suffered a loss at Plainview before concluding the regular season with wins over Kingfisher and North Rock Creek to punch its ticket to the postseason tournament. With a squad loaded with 20 seniors the season came to a conclusion at the hands of Sulphur falling 63-12 in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs. Nine Warriors earned All-District recognition for the season meaning big shoes will need to be filled for the upcoming campaign.

2026 OUTLOOK

This season, the Warriors move down from Class 3A to Class 2A-I and expect the tradition of success they have had in Class 3A and Class 4A in the past to continue. The 2026 squad is a young but talented team that must replace 20 seniors from the 2025 campaign. Anandarko will rely upon the senior leadership of [player_tooltip player_id='1838045' first='Farris' last='Sutteer'] at running back and defensive end. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1832881' first='Trenton' last='Smith'] is the lone returner along the offensive line and will be looked at for his leadership among a young group of lineman. How this young team handled its business over the summer and during the weeks leading up to the kickoff of the 2026 season will determine the success the team achieves. Coach Jackson believes with the amount of youth on this squad this is an opportunity to not only compete and be successful in 2026 but to build a strong foundation that will push success into future seasons for the program. The season kicks-off with Class 2A-II state quarterfinalist Dibble at home followed by Class 2A-I state quarterfinalist Kiefer. Non-district action concludes with a road game versus rival Chickasha. District 2 action features match-ups versus Lindsay and Chandler who both met first round exits last season along with Little Axe who fell to eventual state champion Jones in the first round. While also throwing in the State Runner-Up in Washington, which is a perennial powerhouse.

Farris likes contact and brings that to his running style as he'll take over a large share of the carries following an 870-yard and 12-touchdown junior season. At 5-10, 190 pounds doesn't just bring size that makes him difficult for defenses to bring down but also speed that can bring additional issues for opponents. Defensively, Sutteer brings speed off the edge as a defensive end. Expect the class of 2027 prospect to see his 129 carries of a season ago increase.

Tillis is another quick, big, powerful running back that will provided a strong second-punch to the first punch of Sutteer in the run game. As a freshman, Tillis turned 23 carries into 170 yards. At 6-0, 180 pounds he has excellent size for a sophomore and is a 2029 prospect to watch moving forward.

Botone saw action at safety last season, finishing with 59 total tackles, and will once again contribute defensively, either in the defensive backfield or at linebacker. But it is offensively where all eyes will be on the sophomore as he takes the reins at quarterback. A talented dual-threat quarterback who can make a difference both with his arm and his legs according to his head coach Kent Jackson. The sophomore trigger man already possess nice size at 6-1, 185 pounds.

A sophomore for the Warriors, Wetselline is an experienced contributor returning at linebacker. He has nice measurables at 6-4, 175 pounds and good production with 50 tackles as a freshman. The development of Wetselline during the summer and in preseason will be important for the success of Anadarko but also gives them the potential to be a challenger in Class 2A for 2026.

Just a sophomore, Ivy at 6-5, 230-pounds is a matchup problem for opposing defenses. He provides a massive target in the passing game for what is a young quarterback in fellow sophomore Botone. Ivy is also a strong run blocker who possesses good athleticism bringing some of the fluidity he shows on the basketball court to the gridiron.
