5A SOUTH: One Breakout Candidate from Each Team

<p>High School football kicks off in Arkansas in just a matter of weeks. This report will cover the potential breakout candidates for each team in 2026. Whether it's on the field or in recruitment, these are prospects who look to emerge this fall. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hot Springs:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2087496' first='Brody' last='Quast'] enters the 2026 season as the starting quarterback. Young but will need to step up to lead his team back to the playoffs. As mentioned before, he's a confident passer, which is impressive for his age. He's physical and a true run mauler up front. Burton plays with active feet, consistently displacing opponents off base blocks and creating running lanes. He already holds an offer from Arkansas Tech. Thompson is a versatile prospect for Fairview, playing multiple Techs across the front. He possesses the size and physicality to be successful at the next level. Jones has a strong bull rush, drives with active feet, and has the ability to win and split double teams. He's confident and poised as he isn't afraid to attack the middle of the field with solid ball placement. That alone will attract coaches and personnel members at the next level. Allen is a physical mauler who can angle defenders well in the running game. He's a tough quarterback who can stand in the pocket and take a hit off play action.
