2029 Small Town Sleepers from North Dakota

We took a look on Sunday night at some of the small town sleepers that are either new to the 2029 North Dakota rankings from last week or ones we feel are trending forward in this still pretty new class that has plenty of room to grow. They say per Google a small town in towns across America that are 5000 people or less, but in the Dakotas the small town sleepers we have are from much smaller towns, but still produce and are growing with thier development.    Ellendale Pop. 1125   Just about to the South Dakota border on Hwy 281 you will find the town of Ellendale and 2029 RB1 [player_tooltip player_id='1745594' first='Riggin' last='Sand']. This young man's athletic traits will jump out quickly when you turn on the tape, as he's a swiss army knife offensively that can set your defense back with how he can burn you with his athleticism in a multitude of ways. His open field ability should quickly catch evaluators attention that are looking for out of this class as I feel his instinctive movement and speed amps up around the edges. Surely cannot wait to get Riggin's sophomore tape rolling here very soon.     Stanley Pop. 2321   After getting to watch Ace's freshmen tape the position projection I have points more clearly in the defensive trenches than before. The 6'0 210 pounder has one of the quicker gets off you'll see from the defensive end position and even though he's undersized for that position at the moment at the college level, the agile movement shows position flexibility on the defensive line. Ace shows aggressive hands you want at the point of attack and it's clear this young man is putting together well-versed short area vision to be a significant asset in the Blue Jays run game. His get off hands are also consistent and outweigh the ideal size profile as I also love this kid's motor he has at his disposal.     Drayton Pop. 716   You might remember from last update that there were a handful of athletes from Drayton that made our 2029 rankings board and to me the most impressive one is [player_tooltip player_id='1740895' first='Chey' last='Sehrt'], who sits as our ATH2 in the North Dakota rankings. 6'3 180 pounds on the eye-test is huge watching 6-man football, especially as a wide receiver target. He's not one that you want to give the open field too as Chey has a quite notcable catch radius that sticks out right away and it's all downhill from there with the athleticism he has when the ball is in his hands. You'll find reps as a WR or TE that show what he can do in the open field and I think this young man has plenty of upside to still grow with what he can do when he gets downfield from a finish perspective.     Hankinson Pop. 938   A new name to our 2029 North Dakota rankings is a familar last name to our rankings, as 2029 running back [player_tooltip player_id='2326597' first='Damon' last='Mauch'] comes in as a top 60 athlete in that 2029 class. The 5'10 180 pounder is one that you can grasp the instincts he has despite being light on tape, as he has good vision that will show plenty of growth I am sure over the coming years. He's a running back that also shows off how quick his first step is from an agility standpoint at his age as one that surely can grow on our rankings board with more tape out there hopefully incoming in his sophomore year.     Drayton Pop. 716   Another 2029 name out of Drayton to watch for in the coming years is offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1740893' first='Johnny' last='Osowski']. The 6'0 250 pounder, is an example of the phrase to be the hammer not the nail when he makes contact at the point of attack and I am sure the balance of that translates to both sides of Drayton's trenches. Johnny is a wait and see offensive/defensive linemen to see what he can show in his sophomore season as there's surely upside yet to be untapped from this young man.     Crosby, ND Pop. 1065   Our PRZ team saw flashes of what Eric could do at the NDSU Camp this summer, but from watching his early season tape this year you can see even more of what he brings for the Divide County rushing attack. He's not the biggest running back you will ever see, but shows off the upfield instinct you want in your backfield to throw blocks ahead of his ball-carrier that will make you think this young man is much bigger on tape. With the ball in his hands, Eric shows off good patience in the inside box getting yards with his vision between the tackles. Surely one that could climb the 2029 rankings here soon if he keeps putting together good tape.     Mayville Pop. 1854, Portland Pop. 578   Brogan is one that got on my 2029 North Dakota radar pretty late in the process, but is hard to miss with how solid of an open-field tackler he is for his size. He's quick to get downhill with his sound first step for his age and does so on a pretty constant basis based on last year's tape he put together. Regardless if it's outside or in the inside box, you can feel the physicality that Brogan can make when he makes contact with the ball carrier as I feel he needs to put his best tape surely on a full season highlight reel heading into his sophomore season.
