2029 New Additions: Offense

The season is nearly upon us, and we're squeezing in one last rankings update before the games begin. In case you missed the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/08/updated-2029-north-carolina-rankings/">2029 rankings release</a>, check that out. I've already gone <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/08/behind-the-scenes-of-the-2029-rankings-preseason/">behind the scenes</a> of our thought process during this update and looked at the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/08/top-2029-stock-risers-offense/">offensive stock-risers</a>, so now it's time to look at the players who were added to the rankings. Here are your 2029 offensive new additions.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which Offensive Players Were Added to the 2029 Rankings</h2>   Editor's Note: My colleague, Joshua Graham, looked at the defensive side of the ball. Check out his 2029 rankings pieces: <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/08/stock-risers-2029-defense/">Defensive Stock-Risers </a><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/08/new-additions-2029-defense/">Defensive New Additions</a>   Editor's Note No. 2: We had over 30 new additions, some of them out-of-state transfers or reclassifications. I've selected several to evaluate in this piece, but it is not all-encompassing, and I left a couple of players off. A high-academic two-way player, Carlberg's biggest contribution in 2026 should be at receiver. South Rowan loses several key playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, so we expect Carlberg, a standout JV performer last season, to have a big year. He could play some on the defensive side of the ball at safety as well, but for now, he's an impressive 2029 receiver prospect.     Cohen has impressed us in the past, and we made the decision to add him to the rankings ahead of the 2026 season. He played JV last year while the varsity starter averaged almost 26 touches per game, but he could break out in 2026. Cohen has a strong lower half and fights through initial contact, driving forward for extra yardage.     Howard is an intriguing young quarterback prospect out of Trinity Christian. A varsity starter in 2025, the Crusaders eased him into the season before he grew into the role down the stretch, throwing for 250 yards and five touchdowns in his final start of the season. In 2026, he projects as one of the most productive NCISAA quarterback starter in the state, regardless of class.     Colon has long been on our radar, and we added him to the rankings before this season. He's the young guy in a talented and crowded backfield for Cannon School, but we still think he'll contribute in 2026. A high-academic player, Colon has great vision and speed to the edge, and he's not afraid of contact, either.     Edberhart is another early ranking, as he hasn't yet broken through on varsity. SouthLake Christian will rely heavily on the rising sophomore in 2026, though, and he should produce quickly. He's a smart route-runner against zone with some size and speed to go with it. He'll be a key part of a talented SouthLake Christian passing attack.     Coley was a late add to the rankings after my colleague, Joshua Graham, was impressed with his throwing ability at the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/08/cumberland-county-jamboree-recap-part-2/">Cumberland County Jamboree</a> right before we updated rankings. Coley has excellent athletic ability and follows his brother, who is a key playmaker for the Jaguars. We know Coley can run, but the passing talent he flashed last Friday really caught our attention.     Brown was one of the more productive two-way freshmen in the state last year, and we were a bit late to rank him. His name popped up in some of our preseason content this year, however, and we were able to successfully add him before the season. He ran for over 500 yards as a freshman, adding 53 tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
