Skyline High School hosted their second annual Skyline Cup yesterday with nearly 10 schools on site to compete in their 7v7 tournament. In spite of the heat each team brought out their best and we saw some excellent football on hand. The Skyline Hawks took him the title in a nail biting win over Gar Field Ill have more that in my next piece . Here are my standout performers from East Hardy, Fauquier County, Osbourn, Osbourn Park and South County.

East Hardy

The East Hardy Cougars from Baker, West Virginia came close to taking home the cup advancing to the final four. They would bow out to Gar Field in a close affair with some studs below making plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='2173598' first='Dayton' last='Dove']

Dove seem to make every catch on 4th down regardless of the corner or safety lined up on him. I saw him break loose on a couple of top flight corners, this kid is a gamer. Big husky young man too who runs exceptional routes, he was a problem all morning.

Brinn Childers

A 2029 prospect who could fly, I watch Childers break free several times, he looks like a nice prospect for the Cougars. He broke wide open numerous times for touchdowns, a lot of speed on this rising sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='864946' first='Trevor' last='Roof']

Didn't know much about Roof's game beforehand, but his performance yesterday really stood out and I can see why he is ranked in West Virginia 2027 in the top 150. He threw some seeds and is a stud at 6'0 and 180 lbs.. He looks like a kid that could play multiple positions in college and appears to do that for East Hardy as well.

Osbourn

As I wrote in my team preview, the Osbourn Eagles got hit with the transfer bug and will have a lot of new starters in 2026. They battled yesterday and just missed out on advancing to the tournament due to point total. Coach Copeland and his staff are working their tail off to get Osbourn back to the playoffs and they have some nice pieces in place to do so.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275050' first='Jonah' last='Howells']

Really like what I am seeing out of Howells development, he looks ready to lead Osbourn under center and he was sharp yesterday. He looks comfortable in this new system and has the weapons to get the Eagles into the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1730150' first='Reggie' last='Rodriguez Jr'].

Rodriguez got behind a number of secondaries yesterday, he should figure into a bigger role for Osbourn's offense whether that be at running back or receiver. A quick 2028 prospect who started for the Eagles defense as a sophomore too, he had 30 tackles and 1 Interception at cornerback.

https://twitter.com/reggierodjr/status/2078866782568190423?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id='1719560' first='Elijah' last='Nickens']

Ranked 11th in our 2029 class, Nickens showed up and proved us why. He too played a lot last year and will most likely see both sides of the field heading to his sophomore campaign.

Fauqueir

[player_tooltip player_id='2251044' first='Bryon' last='Green']

I dont know how we missed this 2028 kid out of Fauqueir County, [player_tooltip player_id='2251044' first='Bryon' last='Green'] not only passes the eye test, he was one of the best players I saw. After watching him moss numerous defensive backs and get behind secondaries, I realized not having him included in our previous rankings was one of my biggest omissions in my scouting career. You will hear more about this 6'3 all state wideout come this fall trust me.

Osbourn Park

[player_tooltip player_id='2072214' first='James' last='Mcinerney']

I thought Mcinerney looked very comfortable at quarterback for the Yellow Jackets yesterday morning. He threw a lot of timely touchdowns and was very patient. They have some weapons for him this year at OP I like [player_tooltip player_id='2072214' first='James' last='Mcinerney'] chances under center this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664378' first='Jermaine' last='Keith']

Keith is a part of a nice group of juniors Coach Holland has, he made some tough catches yesterday and will be ranked next month. A watchlist prospect no more [player_tooltip player_id='1664378' first='Jermaine' last='Keith'] has been a playmaker for the Yellow Jackets too long not be ranked.

[player_tooltip player_id='2243798' first='Ronan' last='Pierce'] Jr.

Pierce was a kid Coach had mentioned to me during their team preview and I got to see why in Front Royal. Another 2028 prospect that made a lot of catches and was open quite often. He will play a hybrid tight end role and outside linebacker for OP.

South County

Full disclosure I thought the Stallions had the best team on hand and I am buying stock into their Region title chances this fall. A couple of errors in their rematch with Skyline left the Stallions just short of the grey cup, but believe me they had some standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1954248' first='Dylan' last='Miller']

One of our top quarterbacks in Virginia 2027 is this dude and to be honest he looks stronger than he did last season. That should put fear in opposing defenses eyes as [player_tooltip player_id='1954248' first='Dylan' last='Miller'] came out of nowhere as a junior for an outstanding record breaking year. He was good yesterday reading the field and being patient,

[player_tooltip player_id='1664452' first='Chaz' last='Samuel']

If South County had won the Cup, soon to be sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1664452' first='Chaz' last='Samuel'] was a major reason why. I lost count of his touchdown receptions, he was not being stopped. Samuel looks faster than a year ago and figures to be a major part of the Stallions passing attack this fall. He was one of the best players on the field all day.

https://twitter.com/Chaz_Samuel12/status/2053609002374771073?s=20
