Top Defensive Back Prospects Heading Into 2026

<p>With the season right around the corner, we take a look at the top defensive backs in the Natural State. Most, if not all, of these prospects will be playing on Saturdays in 2026. Here are ten defensive backs to watch. He's a physical, hard-hitting safety who can play in the deep thirds or line up inside the box, showcasing his versatility across schemes. Simmons displays the ability to read and react effectively, as well as attack downhill with good foot speed and angles in pursuit. He's fluid with a good sideline-to-sideline motor and athletic ability. He displays good mental processing due to pre- and post-snap reading. He's a force at safety.  He plays with a high motor, chasing down ball carriers with solid angles at all field levels. Jones displays solid read and react ability in the deep thirds. He adds to a deep defensive back room at Central. Holmes excels off-ball. Holmes displays solid read-and-react ability, effectively keying in on his receiver and the quarterback's eyes. Often arrives at the catch point.
