Talented Kentucky Juniors Who Can Play at the Next Level

Prep Redzone Kentucky has recently released new rankings for the classes of 2027 and 2029. While the 2028's haven't been revealed just yet, let's shine some spotlight on some big-time juniors who I expect to really land on some college football radars this season.    [player_tooltip player_id='1638820' first='Logan' last='Meredith'] is an explosive defensive tackle for Elizabethtown. He has a great first step out of his stance, which helps him win his battle at the point of contact. Meredith can shed his block and help stuff the line of scrimmage. He does a great job of making himself skinny to help slip through double teams. Meredith has a good vertical, which he's shown by knocking down passes at the line of scrimmage. This shows great awareness of the quarterback while also trying to break into the backfield.     [player_tooltip player_id='1190755' first='Xavier' last='Isable'] is a mobile quarterback for Paducah Tilghman. He does a good job of moving up in the pocket when sensing pressure. Isable is mobile enough to bounce to the outside, but only takes off if he can't find anything downfield. This has given him great accuracy on the run, arguably throwing his most impressive passes under pressure. Isable finished his sophomore season with 1,862 yards and 20 passing touchdowns. He did throw nine interceptions, which is something he will need to clean up as a junior this fall.     [player_tooltip player_id='2156974' first='Baird' last='Woodall'] is a high-energy, playmaking cornerback for Lexington Catholic. Woodall does a great job at cutting off routes, taking his receivers out of the play, and jumping the ball to help get the ball back to the Knights' offense. Woodall was one of the best ballhawking defensive backs in the 3A class last season, finishing the year with four interceptions, including one pick-six. Woodall is also a dynamic punt returner, showcasing his athleticism, speed, and vision with the football.     [player_tooltip player_id='2066940' first='Callum' last='Darnell'] is a do-it-all two-way player for Adair County. He serves as a running back, where he rushed for 576 yards and five touchdowns (7.2 yards per carry) while also being the team's leader on defense. He finished his sophomore season with three interceptions to go along with two forced fumbles and a recovery at the free safety position. Offensively, he's quick on his feet, which helps him bounce and beat defenders to the outside. He's also a patient runner, waiting for his blocks before hitting his holes with confidence. Defensively, he maintains his zone in pass protection and does a great job at angling his pursuit when flying toward the football.     [player_tooltip player_id='1274303' first='Peyton' last='Ladd'] is very shifty in the backfield for Eastern. Ladd utilizes a strong jump cut to help make defenders miss, and has the speed to outrun defensive linemen on or behind the line of scrimmage. He can turn on the jets and produce an extra gasp of energy when he's already downfield. He's best when finding his way toward the outside and making would-be tacklers miss in the open field, but has a mean streak that lets him run downhill, lower his shoulder, and initiate contact.
