Future Difference-Makers: Kentucky's 2028 ATHs

We're heading to the 2028 class today to highlight a group of versatile recruits who can make plays in multiple phases of the game and could have big seasons this fall.    Smith is a smart, versatile player with upside on both sides of the ball. Defensively, I like his range, vision, and closing speed. He reads plays well, gets to the football in a hurry, and has the athleticism to make plays all over the field. Offensively, he has good vision and the speed to turn small openings into big plays. He got varsity work on both sides last season and made the most of his opportunities, putting up 26 tackles and 9 PBUs while adding 310 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns offensively. I like his versatility and the confidence he plays with.     Payne has elite speed and agility that immediately jump off the tape. He sees the field well, changes direction without losing much speed, and just keeps accelerating the farther the play goes. Once he gets into the open field, he's a threat to score every time he touches it. He's also a really good kick returner who can house any return if he finds a crease. As a receiver, he may not be the biggest guy, but he's tough to get hands on because of how quick he is off the line and in and out of his breaks. He's dynamic and a fun guy to watch.     Foster is a smooth athlete who can make plays all over the field. He can carry the ball, catch passes, go in motion, and make an impact in the return game. It really doesn't matter how he gets the football because he's a playmaker whenever it's in his hands. He's got good short-area agility, allowing him to make defenders miss without slowing down much. He's the type of player offensive coaches can move around to create mismatches and find ways to get him touches.     James is a good two-way player who brings value in a lot of different ways. As a runner, he's patient and does a nice job taking what's there instead of trying to force big plays. He's a one-cut back who sticks his foot in the ground, gets north and south, and doesn't waste movement dancing in the backfield. He also has good hands out of the backfield and can be involved in the passing game. He's a good kick returner with the top-end speed to flip field position. Anytime he touches the ball, he seems to trust his vision and gets upfield.     Clark is a multi-sport athlete whose overall athleticism shows up on the football field. He has good contact balance, hand-eye coordination, and is a natural catcher of the football. I like his vision with the ball in his hands, and he does a nice job seeing the field and letting plays develop. He doesn't seem rushed and makes good decisions once the ball is in his hands. Clark also strikes me as a smart player who understands what's happening around him and stays calm when the chaos hits.
