Five Best Uncommitted 2027 Recruits in Tennessee

As the high school football season quickly approaches and programs begin to get into pads during practice to prepare for the season, there is still plenty of talented players left in the state of Tennessee that have not committed to a college program yet.   While there tends to be some playmakers available later in the process each cycle, the 2027 cycle is unique in the sense that there are still several talented trench players still working through the recruiting process.   We take a look at the five best recruits from the state of Tennessee that have yet to make a public commitment (no order).   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Westview 2027 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1103496' first='Asa' last='Barnes']</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1103496' first='Asa' last='Barnes'] is a strong tailback prospect with good size, burst and natural athleticism.   He has a strong frame at 5-foot-11 and over 200 pounds and he utilizes it to be a bruising presence between the tackles and when matched up with defensive backs in the open field.   He has excellent burst downhill with good straight-line speed that will give him a lot of potential as a one-cut or wide zone rusher that can get upfield quickly.   He has the vision and the ability to get skinny between blocks to be a consistent force between the tackles and wear down defenses. Additionally, he can make the first defender miss with a cut and keep stacking positive rushes.   Some pass-catching upside could be there, especially in the dump off game. With his frame, he should eventually grow into a strong pass protector -- assertiveness will not be a problem as a blocker as he is also a productive linebacker at the high school level.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lebanon 2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1938324' first='Gavin' last='Gregory']</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1938324' first='Gavin' last='Gregory'] is a talented receiver prospect with a good, strong frame and the versatility to impact the game in a variety of ways.   Standing around six-foot and 170 pounds, he has a compact frame that he can keep adding weight upon to maximize it.   He holds natural movement skills that allows for him to work open and become a reliable target at every level of the field, including over the middle and downfield.   With his size, he has the ability to make an impact in two and three receiver sets, with inside-out versatility.   As he keeps adding weight to his frame, he has the strong frame and hands to be a reliable target over the middle of the field consistently, with the long speed to attack downfield when working on the outside.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Riverdale 2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2101290' first='Gavin' last='Johnson']</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2101290' first='Gavin' last='Johnson'] is a receiver prospect with explosive playmaking ability that thrives at attacking defenses vertically.   He has good size at six-foot, but will need to add weight to his frame that currently holds 160-170 pounds entering his senior season.   He is an explosive playmaker that is excellent at stretching defenses and can win downfield from both the slot and the perimeter.   From the slot, he utilizes his acceleration to work upfield quickly and get behind nickels or safety defenders. When working on the outside, he looks to get in catch-and-run situations over the middle of the field -- screens, slants and corner routes.   He should be able to add to his frame without losing his explosiveness and continue to put vertical pressure on defenses at the next level.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">McCallie 2027 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1857508' first='Titus' last='Tervanen']</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1857508' first='Titus' last='Tervanen'] is a an exciting offensive line prospect with the size, strength, athleticism and technical ability.   The Canadian lineman plays offensive tackle for his high school and could potentially stick at the position at the next level, but his best potential might be at guard.   He is a powerful force that can naturally seal off defensive lineman and drive them out the play by keeping his legs churning, creating large rushing lanes for his tailback.   He is a good athlete and has worked up to the second level to kick out or seal off a linebacker plenty throughout the season. McCallie plays their offensive front tight and he has shown the ability to produce strong results in tight spaces, but could show more of that athletic ability in pass protection on an island -- not that he can't do it, just has had limited such opportunities comparitevely.   He does not sacrifice the technical aspect to enforce his power to move front seven defenders and could make an impact early in his college career, especially from the interior.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Franklin Road Academy 2027 DL [player_tooltip player_id='866750' first='Keilan' last='Neal']</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='866750' first='Keilan' last='Neal'] is a versatile defensive line prospect that has the athleticism and anchor to work upfield and generate pressures.   At 6-foot-2 and 275 pounds, he is undersized but his natural strength, anchor and assertion make up for it even when facing Power Four offensive line talents.   He is a good athlete for his size and plays with a high motor, becoming a problem for tackles and guards as he works into their chest and knocks them off their spot.   He primarily has played the strongside end position for his school, but has kicked inside and shown the ability to take on double-teams, breaking through to split the blocks.   From that end role, he does have enough athleticism to not be reliant on only beating a tackle inside, although that would give him the best chance at finishing a play as opposed to creating a pressure. However, he showed his awareness during his junior season with constantly knocking down throws at the line of scrimmage if he is not able to get to the quarterback.   At the end of the day, he should develop into an attacking 3-tech that can play on the outside during early downs and generate havoc in the backfield.
