STB Omaha Showcase: Oscar's Standouts Pt. 1

It was another great showcase put on by Coach McQuillan and the Spot The Ball crew as they set up shop at Ralston High School. There were roughly 70 prospects in attendance, ranging from incoming seniors to 2031 prospects. As the night progressed, I jotted down names and quick notes of some of the standouts in attendance. Here is the first part of my series highlighting some of the standouts from the camp.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    Elkhorn North's [player_tooltip player_id='1277026' first='Ian' last='Anderson'] has had a solid offseason and that continues with a standout performance at STB. Ian flashed as a defensive lineman where he did a great job using his strength and length to win his 1v1s. At 6'4" and 265 pounds, Ian possesses next level size that translates well with a strong lower body that helps him drive defenders off the ball and heavy hands that can land like bricks. During 1v1s, I was impressed by how well he could fire out of his stance and use his longer reach to extend and be the aggressor at the point of attack. Good use of hands to rip through blockers and disengage.     [player_tooltip player_id='2239235' first='Byron' last='Mitchell'] Jr., out of Center HS (MO), is a name to keep in the 2028 class. He was very impressive to watch in Indy drills as he displayed sharp footwork and displayed the ability to sink his hips and explode out of his breaks. Mitchell has a great burst of speed at the snap, allowing him to get a free release from defenders and get downfield. As they were going through routes on air, Byron showed the ability to run a diverse route tree at all levels of the field and with great precision. He locates the ball very well and does a great job using his hands to make/secure the catch. He held up well when battling through contact.     Ralston Ram QB [player_tooltip player_id='1085649' first='Cade' last='Stix'] did a great job showing out at the camp's host location. As we progressed through the showcase, Cade's arm talent began flashing more and more. He gets good velocity from his throws and can deliver the ball with great zip into tight windows. Cade's arm strength was on full display as he was both consistent and accurate with his deep-ball throws. He moves well on his feet, displaying good footwork in drills and when maneuvering the pocket.     Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1085650' first='Henry' last='Fries'] is another player from the host Ralston Rams who had a standout performance. Henry participated as both a TE and a kicker, showcasing his versatile skill set. On offense, Henry's 6'3", 180-pound frame matched up well across the board and allows him to fit a flex TE-type role. He does a great job elevating over defenders on jump balls and uses his massive catch radius to make catches outside of his frame.     Raiden DeCora emerged as a solid hidden gem prospect out of Winnebago. Raiden was a standout among an impressive group of RBs, showing he can do it all from toting the rock, catching it, and even had some solid linebacker reps. Going through Indy drills, DeCora showed nice fluidity moving through the bags with quick feet and a sturdy base that help him stay low and keep his balance. DeCora's route running in 1v1s was very impressive as he showed he can work a defender's leverage against them and adjust his route on the fly. He has the burst and acceleration to get downfield if you don't keep an eye on him in coverage.
