Receiver Recognition: Wideouts to Watch in Kentucky's 2028 Class

A couple of days ago, we took a look at some of the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/06/qb-watch-emerging-junior-gunslingers-in-ky/">emerging quarterback prospects</a> in Kentucky's 2028 class. Now, we shift our focus to another offensive skill position: wide receiver.   The Bluegrass State is loaded with young talent at the position, and several promising pass catchers remain firmly under the radar. With that in mind, let's shine the spotlight a few wide receiver prospects who deserve some recognition entering their junior seasons:    [player_tooltip player_id='2066962' first='Hunter' last='Dalton'] is a speedy wideout who has proven he can burn a defensive back off the snap. He's long, which gives him a wide range to catch the football. Dalton has fast feet, which he uses to make quick cuts to provide separation between him and the DB. Has soft hands, but is aggressive in 50/50 ball situations. Dalton is patient and is often used in screen situations where he waits for his blocks before using his agility to turn on the jets and outrun the opposing defense.     [player_tooltip player_id='1638821' first='Brody' last='Trabue'] is a playmaker with the ball in his hands and is effective in both the short and deep pass game. Trabue often makes his first man miss and always fights for extra yards. He isn't afraid to go up and catch the ball with two hands while crowded by defenders. What's impressive about Trabue is that not only is he a good route-runner, but he is light on his feet with and without the ball.     What immediately stands out about [player_tooltip player_id='2066941' first='Jeremiah' last='Briscoe'] is his route-running abilities. He can stop on a dime, come back to the football, using his speed to create separation, resulting in chunk plays for his offense. Briscoe is a catalyst for Atheron's offense when he has the ball in his hands. Additionally, he has proven his skills at beating cornerbacks off the snap and has an impressive ability to slip through the defense and get open.     [player_tooltip player_id='1658426' first='Shamar' last='Whitfield'] catches a lot of his passes at the line of scrimmage, but he averaged 13.3 yards per catch as a sophomore in 2025. He finished the year with 14 receptions, 186 yards, and two touchdowns. Whitfield is explosive with the ball in his hands but is also patient, following his blockers to help him break loose. He's also a reliable blocker on the outside.     [player_tooltip player_id='1206232' first='Charlie' last='Vanderhoof'] is a deep ball threat for Raceland, who is a reliable target in 50/50 ball situations. He has good footwork and has a quick jump cut that can help him break free from defenders. Vanderhoof is slippery and hard to bring down in the open field, and can outrun a cornerback in man coverage. He has also put on some size, too, sitting at 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds entering his junior year.
